Max D. Pessetto
PRICE-Max D. Pessetto died peacefully at home Sept. 17, 2007. He joined his one and only true love Anna Rose this day, we were blessed to be by his side.
Max was born on May 22, 1926 to Walter and Josephine Pessetto.
He married Anna Rose Corsetti on February 19, 1945.
He was born and raised in Carbon County where he attended school and played lots of baseball. He joined the Navy in 1944 and served for two years. Max was a graduate of the University of Utah where he earned a degree in history. Max was an amazing athlete and was quite accomplished in many sports. But his passion growing up was baseball. At one time he played on three different teams at the same time. He often told the stories of playing from dusk till dawn. He was a pitcher for the University of Utah and was part of the team that won the collegiate world series in 1951. He even did a little quarter backing while at the university until his baseball coach found out and said no way. He went on to play AAA ball and traveled all over the country pitching. The Cleveland Indians made him an offer but unlike today ball players were not offered much money and he made the choice to go to work. He taught at East High briefly and then decided to go into business for himself. He opened his first tire store in the early 1960’s and became one of the original Big O Tires franchisees in 1968. He was an outstanding businessman and his store will continue on with his family. He instilled a work ethic into Mickey and the rest of us that will be a legacy to all.
Max and Ann had two sons, Max Donald and Mickey David.
He is survived by son, Mickey (Peggy); four grandchildren; Nicolette (Jesse), Daniel, Melissa (Colby), and Michael and four great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by wife Anna Rose, son Max, sister Betty, and Walter and Josephine.
The family will greet friends at 6 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, at the St. Vincent De Paul Church, 1385 East Spring Lane (5195 So.), Murray. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place, 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 22 also at St. Vincent De Paul Church. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
Dale Oviatt
ELMO – Dale Henry Oviatt passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Sept. 21, 2007.
Dale was born Nov. 2, 1929 in Elmo, to Byron N. Oviatt and Irene Day Oviatt. Dale married the love of his life, Donna Fern Williams on Aug. 6, 1952. They were best friends and enjoyed 55 years together.
He had two brothers, Loren and Theo Oviatt and one sister, Ann Fillmore. Dale will always be remembered for his sense of humor. According to Donna, he never forgot a joke. He was very talented, most people in Moab probably have a wood carving that he hand carved and painted. He enjoyed reading, especially Louis L’Amour. Dale enjoyed sports and the out of doors. Dale enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling and spent many hours on the golf course. His number one talent was making people laugh.
He served his country by enlisting in the Navy in 1950, was stationed in Japan, and was honorably discharged in 1952.
Dale is survived by loving wife, Donna; three children, Wayne Russell (Debra) Dull, Burnadene Yvonne (Ted) Burns, and Terry Dale (Sam) Kontgas; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by mother; father; two brothers; one sister-in-law, Margaret Oviatt; and one granddaughter, Dana Lynn Dull.
A memorial service to celebrate Dale’s life will be held at the Old Moab city park Saturday, Sept. 29, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Community Nursing Services, 4892 E. Sunny Acres Lane, Moab, UT 84532.
Dad, you will be forever loved and missed.
Kelly C. Christensen
HELPER – Kelly C. Christensen, age 55, of Helper, passed away peacefully on Sept. 19, 2007 after a short illness.
Kelly was born April 2, 1952 to Charolette and Cox Christensen in Price.
He attended school in Carbon County, CEU and the University of Utah.
Kelly lived in many places in California, Colorado and Utah, but his heart was always in Helper where he finally returned to live until his passing. He was one of Helper’s biggest fans and supporters.
Kelly was a very talented man, an excellent horse man, artist and chef. He was very knowledgeable about antiques. Kelly was a born again member of the New Life Ministries and found his place in the Amen and Shakees section on widows row. It was here under the watchful eye of the widows that Kelly learned to worship the Lord. His association with his church and it’s congregation brought him much joy and comfort.
Kelly took loving care of his mother for many years, he was a good son and a great brother.
Kelly is survived by mother, Charolotte Pikar, Price; brother, Max Christensen and wife, Lori, Grand Junction, Colo.; six nieces and eight great-nieces and nephews. Also survived by loving companions, his dogs, Bella and Chewy. Preceded in death by father, and grandparents.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the New Life Ministries in Spring Glen at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29.

Annie Sheya
PRICE-Anna Marie Sheya, age 96, died Sept. 21, 2007 in Price.
She was born in Pueblo, Colo. on March 20, 1911 to Michael and Mary Oppocher Zupan.In 1913, the family moved to Carbon County where she later met and married Edward Sheya on June 20, 1939 in Price. He preceded her in death on November 10, 1977.
Annie was always proud to live with the good people of Carbon County. Even with the infirmities of old age she did not complain or lose her sweet disposition.
She is survived her son, Donald (Jeri) Sheya, Murray; brother, Leo (Veda) Zupan, Ashland, Ore.; and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many longtime friends.
She was preceded in death by parents; husband; and brother, Ted (Maunty) Zupan.
Funeral Mass, Friday, Sept. 28, 10 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service, Thursday evening, 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Thursday and Friday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery.
