Megan Garvin continues to be a force averaging almost five kills a game. |
Two away matches added up to two more W’s for the Carbon Dinos last week. On Tuesday the team headed to Roosevelt to take on Union. It took only three games to put them away. Carbon took them down 25-19, 25-09, and 25-11.
They used that momentum to go into Grantsville on Wednesday and make short work up there as well with another three game victory. The final in that meeting was Carbon 25-13, 25-10 and 25-16 over Grantsville.
Coach Cristin Johnson was very pleased with the team’s performance in the last two games. “We usually have one game we struggle with in our matches, but in these matches we played complete games from beginning to end. There were no games in which we struggled.”
In the Union game Megan Garvin had nine kills followed by Britni Greenwood with seven and Ericka Potts with six. Julia Potts had 28 set assists and Whitney Oliver had five service aces. It was a balanced team effort that dominated Union in the sweep.
With no break, Garvin continued to be a force at the net against Grantsville with 13 kills. Julia Potts had 31 set assists to run the offense. Whitney Oliver kept sharp at the line with another three service aces.
The team will come home for a match-up with Ben Lomand for the final non-region match up on Tuesday, Sept. 11. Game time will be 6:30 at the Carbon High gym.
The team will begin Region 8 play at Delta on Sept. 20.
