Food handlers classes – Two-hour sessions are scheduled in Price on Sept. 25 at 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the public health district, located at 28 South 100 East. Classes will be taught at the health department in Castle Dale on Sept. 13 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Test fees are required. For information, call Claron Bjork at 637-3671.
New Life Ministries yard sale – is planned Sept. 14 and Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1950 W. 4100 North, Spring Glen.
Protecting children from Internet dangers – Officer Shane Henrie from the Carbon Metro Drug Task Force will present the educational session Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Ascension St. Matthews Church, 522 Homestead Boulevard, Price.
Immunization clinic hours – Clinics are scheduled at Southeastern Utah Health District Monday through Thursday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Women’s cancer screening – Women 50 years of age or older may qualify for a free breast and cervical cancer exams and mammograms. For information, call the public health district at 637-3671. Women ages 40 to 49 may qualify for a low-cost exam.
Free legal clinics – Utah Legal Services has scheduled free clinics the second and fourth Monday of the month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 7th District Court complex, located at 149 East 100 South in Price. For information, contact the agency toll-free at 1-800-662-1563.
Carbon County Animal Shelter – AVID chip pet identification is available at the shelter. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Carbon County RSVP – Residents who would like to lend a helping hand or may need the assistance of volunteers may contact the Price or East Carbon RSVP offices.
Carbon County Family Support and Children’s Justice Center – offers crisis care for families with children from infants to 11 years old. The crisis nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Residents may use the nursery for respite, doctor and mental health appointments, court appearances, medical emergencies, family crisis, A/Narcotic Anonymous meetings, divorce classes and to escape domestic violence. Parenting classes are scheduled Thursday at 1:30 p.m. The center is also collecting donations for displaced families. Furniture items will be accepted only if the center has families in need. Child care resource and referral – For information on becoming licensed child providers or obtaining referrals, local residents may contact the program at 613-5619.
Cell phones for seniors – are available at Carbon County RSVP. The program provides cell phones that dial 911 in emergencies at no cost to participants. For information, call the RSVP office at 637-9118.
Price library – Hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.; closed Saturday, Sunday and holidays. Story time is Monday at 11 a.m. for toddlers, Tuesday at 5 p.m., Wednesday at 5 p.m. and Thursday at 1 p.m. Residents interested in English as a second language or basic literacy classes Monday and Thursday at 6 p.m. may contact Paula Lewis at the library. Gallery East – will feature the works of faculty photographers Kimball Johnson, Mike King, Troy Hunt and Jim Huffaker through Sept. 28. The opening reception is planned Sept. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Carbon Family Resource Center – Story time is Wednesday at 11:15 a.m. The free lending library open to the community includes items for children, teens, parents and grandparents. CFRC is located at Castle Valley Center, 755 N. Cedar Hills Drive, Price. Call the center for hours at 650-3830.

Carbon County Humane Society – offers clinics the second Tuesday of the month at 5 S. Carbon Avenue, Price. Contact the society at 637-0588 for appointments.
Second Chance Wildlife Rehabilitation – is a non-profit group dedicated to the care of orphaned, injured or ill wildlife. The group needs adult volunteers. Carbon County residents may call Debbie Pappas at 650-3441 for information.
Price Main Street program – The board meets the first Wednesday of the month at noon in room 207 of Price City Hall. For information, contact Melanie Steele at 820-1290.

Veterans employment representative – is available Monday through Friday at the department of workforce services, 475 West Price River Drive.
The representative will answer questions about benefits and assist with applications, employment and veterans issues.
