Mont Harmon takes the field at the close of last season. They started this year right where they left off, winning. They downed the bulldogs 8-6.

Mont Harmon traveled to San Rafael on Aug. 29 to battle their cross county rivals. Mont Harmon was able to shut down the Bulldogs 8-6 with stiffening defense and a balanced offensive attack that featured four strong rushers.
“We had a great defense all game,” said coach Jeff Blanc. “And scored just enough points to pull out the win over a tough team.”
Halfback, Jordan Blanc led the team in rushing with 67 yard and scored the teams only touchdown breaking away on a 25-yard scoring run.
“When Jordan scored we were down 6-0,” said Blanc. “We decided to go for the win and fake the extra point.”
Sammy Manarite faked the kick and threw the winning conversion to JJ Morley.
Also strong for the Pirates was full-back Dillon Manzanares with 46 yards rushing, halfback Manarite with 40 yards and quarterback Dusty Blackham with 45 yards on the ground.
The team made some early season mistakes losing five turnovers but made up for it on defense causing five of their own.
“We struggled a little offensively with fumbles and lost snaps,” commented Blanc.
Strong on defense was Julian Tamllos and Kenny Wood both each with an interception. Wood led the team in tackles and was the dominant defensive player at outside linebacker.
“I think we are only going to get better from here,” concluded Blanc.
