Law enforcement officers and emergency crews assist at the scene of single vehicle traffic accident on the road to C Canyon. The fatal incident occurred at approximately 1:22 a.m. on Aug. 26, confirmed Wellington Police Chief Lee Barry. Sgt. Kelly Maynes was apparently traveling along U.S. Highway when the Wellington officer spotted a 1995 Isuzu Rodeo matching the description of a vehicle reportedly involved in a hit-and-run mishap near Price. The officer responded to the attempt to locate public dispatch broadcast and stopped the vehicle near Sunnyside Junction. After talking briefly to Maynes, the Rodeo’s driver, 48-year-old Rodger W. Goulding of East Carbon, reportedly pulled the vehicle on Utah State Road 123 and turned onto the canyon highway. Maynes followed the Rodeo and, less than one mile up the canyon, the vehicle veered off the roadway and rolled. Goulding was ejected from the vehicle and the victim died of injuries incurred in the accident, indicated Barry.
