Jay Marx
PRICE – Jay L. Marx, age 90, died Aug. 22, 2007 in Price.
Born March 24, 1917 in Mt. Pleasant, the fifth of 12 children to Alvin LeRoy and Wayne Cloward Marx. Married Margherete Monnet in 1941 and they were blessed with a wonderful daughter, Shirley, and her caring and loving husband, Ted.
Jay and his brother, Floyd were the founders and owners of the Carbon Emery Animal By-Products and Metal Savage Company for many years.
He was an avid fisherman, he loved golfing, bowling and gardening.
Jay was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Served in the U.S. Army during WW II.
He was a life member of the Moose Lodge and Price Elks Lodge 1550.
Jay will be missed by family, friends and golfing and fishing buddies.
Survived by wife, Margherete; daughter, Shirley (Ted) Marakis; brother, Floyd Marx; sisters, Pauline (Murray) Shorts, Maxine (James) Rinehart; three sisters-in-law, Nadine, Dorothy and Glenna Marx; and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Blain, Kenneth, Clyde, Earl and Verdell Marx; and sisters, Eloise World, Lucille Marx and Ada Oakden.
Funeral service was Monday, Aug. 27, at Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment, Price City Cemetery.

Dennis ‘Gabby’ Hayes
KENILWORTH – Loving husband, father and friend, Dennis “Gabby” P. Hayes, passed away Aug. 23, 2007.
He was born in Alhambra, Calif., to Betty (Smith) and James Hayes.
Gabby loving camping in the San Rafael desert, with a very large fire.
He enjoyed feeding and watching the wildlife in and around his backyard.
He was an avid collector with a love for the “old and odd” things.
Patriotic to his country.
Proud to be an American.
Survived by wife, Geneva Roark; children, Levi and Lynnsi Hayes, Laska Newman; grandchildren, Garrett Newman, Haze Newman, Kenidee Hayes and Kaston Hayes; mother, Betty Smith; sisters and brother, Mike and Betty Hayes, Diane and Mickey Manes, Kathy and Wayne Parker, Susie Blackway and Rusty, Donna Hayes and Mike, and Lisa and Tracy Hamel. Loved by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, too many to list by name.
Farewell gathering for family and friends will be held at Cedar Mountain on San Rafael desert Sunday, Sept. 9, at 3 p.m.
Rodger W. Goulding
EAST CARBON – Rodger W. Goulding passed away in an automobile accident Aug. 26, 2007 in East Carbon.
Born April 30, 1959 in Salt Lake City to Brant and Deon Goulding. Married to Amber Carter.
While living in East Carbon, Rodger worked for Wal-Mart.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, taking trips, and spending time with his family.
Survived by wife, Amber; children, Jeff, Chad, Ashley, Nick, Kevin, Josh, Ayden, Karlie; brothers, Bill (Toni), Rob, Mike (Audrey), Greg; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by father; brothers, Rick and Jeff; and daughter, Christy.
Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street.
