David Wayne Sharp
VERNAL – David Wayne Sharp, cherished husband, father, grandfather, son and friend, returned to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on Aug.18, 2007 while at work.
He was born on Nov. 26, 1960 in Richfield, the youngest of eight children born to Loyd Alan and Barbara Case Sharp. He married Elizabeth “Liz” Tomlinson on Aug. 30, 1980 in Bountiful. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He was a loving and devoted husband and father of 10 and the proud grandfather of eight. His family was always the most important thing in his life. Nothing brought him more joy than nurturing, supporting and encouraging them to always do their best. He believed that example was the finest teacher.
He was a dedicated, dependable and diligent worker holding various positions in the mining industry before becoming an owner of Center Fire Trucking. He instilled his strong work ethic in his children.
In his spare time, you could find him with his family fishing, hunting, singing, coaching, 4-wheeling, barbecuing, enjoying Sunday dinners and living life to the fullest.
He is survived by the love of his life, Liz; and their children, Kristen Smith (Jim), Patrick (Aileen), Ashley, David Aaron (Jennifer), Eric, Kimberly, McKenzie, Evan, Levi and Wyatt; grandchildren, Lizzy, Jimmy, Kaycee, Dalton, Coby, Cody, Aidyn and Alexander; mother, Barbara Case Sharp; brothers and sisters, Bob, Ronald (Janice), Kelly (Jean), Steven (DeLoa), William (Charmaine) and Roxane Abney (John). He was preceded in death by his father, Loyd Alan Sharp; sister, Linda; and dear friend, Dale McClaren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at the Ashley-Maeser Chapel, 2575 N. 1500 West, Vernal. Viewings will be at the Thomson- Blackburn Vernal Mortuary 15 East 100 North, Wednesday, Aug. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the chapel one hour prior to services.
His smiling face and positive influence will be missed by all. Families are forever.
Gail Wilhelm Haut
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Gail W. Haut, MD, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and dedicated physician, passed away on Aug. 9, 2007 at age 90 in Bakersfield, Calif.
Gail was born on June 17, 1917 in Manhattan in New York City, N.Y., as the only child of Gustav and Eva Haut.
He grew up in Manhattan and the Bronx, attending Peter Stuyvesant High School where he became intrigued with the study of science, especially biology and chemistry.
Following his undergraduate work at Columbia University, Gail obtained his MD from the Long Island School of Medicine.
In the midst of WWII, Gail married Margaret Silbernagel on July 25, 1942 and was called to active military duty later that year. During his tour of duty with the Army, Gail was sent to China where one of his assignments was to accompany an interpreter by horseback along the Indo-Chinese border to oversee the administration of vaccine to Chinese troops.
During his service in the Army, Gail rose from the rank of lieutenant to captain and ultimately to major.
While he was in China, his first son, David, was born. After his return to the U.S. in 1945, Gail lived in the New York-New Jersey area and trained to specialize in the field of radiology. His daughter, Virginia, was born during this time.
In 1952, Gail and Margaret moved to eastern Utah where he was the only radiologist in the area for 15 years. Eventually, they would add three more children to the family while Gail worked at the regional hospital in Price. For a time, he served as chief of staff at the Price Hospital and is credited with leading that hospital to accreditation and the high standard of medical care that accompanied such certification.Motivated to learn more in the field of radiology and nuclear medicine.
Gail moved his family again in 1966, this time to Minnesota where he served on the faculty of the University of Minnesota’s School of Medicine.
In 1970, Gail moved his family one last time to Bakersfield where he worked at Mercy Hospital (Truxtun Avenue) as a radiologist for over 20 years.
While living in Bakersfield, Gail was a founding member of the Kern County Right to Life Committee in 1970 and served on the board for several years. He also served on the board for the Kern County Sunday School Association for many years and was a member of both Laurelglen Bible Church and Kern City Community Church.
Gail is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margaret; his five children, son, David, Hawaii; daughter, Ginger ( Cal Evans) Rhode, Sandy; son, Andrew( Debbie)Haut, Bakersfield, Calif.; daughter, Debbie (Joe) Castaneda, Layton; son, John, Monrovia, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; eight nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered for his generous and ever-cheerful nature and an endless supply of jokes and puns.
His children and grandchildren will remember him as a man who lived his faith.
Graveside service, Friday, Aug. 24, 1:30 p.m., Price City Cemetery. Family will gather at Mitchell Funeral Home at 1 p.m. A memorial service will be Sept. 15, 11 a.m., at the Kern City Community Church in the Kern City Town Hall in Bakersfield, Calif. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.

Alexander Lopez
RIVERTON – Alexander P. Lopez, 66, passed away on Aug.12, 2007 from a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born July 17, 1941 in Chandler, Colo., to Jesus and Mary G. Lopez. He was married to Nadine Martinez, later divorced. He then married Sharee K. Mitchell, his companion for 38 years.
He entered the Army in 1959 and was proud to be a member of the 101st Airborne Division.
He worked in oil fields, construction, coal mines, Thiokol Chemical Plant and the DRG&W. He then made a career at the USPS retiring with 33 years of leadership.
Alex enjoyed traveling, loved fishing and golf. His hobby and passion was fixing old classics, one of which was his admired ’55 Chevy truck. He was a Jack of all trades who could master anything by self education.
Alex was very proud of his Indian heritage. He was a member of Price Elks Club.
He lived his life by many great principles.
We’ll always love and greatly miss Alex, especially that dry sarcastic humor.
Survived by his wife Sharee; children Michael, Lisa, Teresa and Anthony; his nine grandchildren, who were his pride and joy; his mother, Mary G. Lopez; brothers, Mario (Shirley), Victor (Bev), Steve, Frank (Jan) Lopez; sisters, Magda, Carol (Gary), Mary, Toni and Lydia. Preceded in death by his father, Jesus Lopez; and brother and best friend, Joe (Bambi) Lopez.

Russell ‘Skip’ Owens
CARBON COUNTY/MODESTO, Calif. – Russell Frank “Skip” Owens died Aug. 2, 2007.
Born Oct. 4, 1951 in Modesto, Calif., and raised in Carbon County.
Skip was a long haul truck driver for most of his life. He worked as a police officer in Helper, coal miner at Valley Camp and a truck driver and was also in the service.
He enjoyed Harley Davidsons and being on the road.
Skip’s CB handle was “Wind Walker” and, just like his handle, he was here one day and gone the next, just like the wind.
Skip recently remade his home in Carbon County with his boys after being on the road for so long.
Survived by sons, Darrell Wayne Morris, Dennis Kyle Owens, Keith Owens, all of Price; daughter, Ellen; brothers, Elton Foster, Helper; Kyle (Janiece) Foster, Spring Glen; stepsisters, Sheri (Stan) Coleman, Price; Toni (Larry) Dalak, Price; one grandson, Logan; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by father, Frank Owens; mother, Ellen Lamoreaux; and brother, Dennis Owens.
We love you, dad, and will miss you very much.
