Lola Fowler Jewkes


ORANGEVILLE – Lola Fowler Jewkes, 84, passed away Aug. 9, 2007 at her home in Orangeville. She was reunited with her husband, Don, 24 years after his death.
She was born Aug. 4, 1923 to Vana Abagail Oman and Leo Abinadi Fowler in Hiawatha. She married Don Kearl Jewkes Jan. 12, 1946 after waiting for him for three years while he served his country in World War II.
They were the parents of four children, Lyla Christine of Washington Terrace; Don Earl Jewkes (Jeanine) of Layton; Rosanne (Kent) Hooley, Salt Lake City; and Susan Diane Abass of Costa Mesa, Calif.
She was active in the LDS Church and loved serving her Father in Heaven and Savior there.
She had been active in the VFW Auxiliary and the Click Club (Rook).
She loved gardening and the many flowers in her yard, writing poetry, painting, quilting, fishing, temple work, family history work and serving her family with love.
She is survived by one son, three daughters, 15 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one brother, one sister and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Aug. 16 at the Orangeville LDS Ward Chapel, 45 West 100 South. A viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the services at the chapel. Internment, Orangeville City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.


Billy Wiswell


HELPER – Our beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend, William Steven “Billy” Wiswell, age 49, returned to his Heavenly Father on Aug. 10, 2007.
He was born July 17, 1958 in Price to John Lea and Ora “Bunny” Fenn Wiswell.
Billy enjoyed fishing, bottle hunting, and spending time with his friends. He was a “free bird” and lived life his way.
Billy played hard and was always there when someone needed help. He was a friend to all and will be dearly missed.
Survived by daughter, Billie Jo Wiswell, Oklahoma; mother, Ora “Bunny” Magann, Helper; four grandchildren; two sisters; Susan (Robert) Richardson, Peggy Rathburn; three special nieces and two nephews; 22 great- nieces and nephews; one great-great-nephew; ex wife, Debbie Shellman. Preceded in death by father and many longtime friends.
Visitation Wednesday, Aug. 15, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home.


LaVon W. Foster


PRICE – LaVon (Vonnie) W. Foster, age 96, passed away at home on Aug. 12, 2007 in Price.
She was born Sept. 23, 1910 in Ferron to James P. Westenskow and Olive Ann Rhodes. She married Nephi Layton Foster Dec. 5, 1930 in Castle Dale.
LaVon loved crossword puzzles, gardening, quilting, collecting frogs and making magnets out of various things.
She is survived by her three daughters, Shirley (Ted) Fausett, Price; Jeanie (Doyl “Mac”) McDoniel, Price; and Elaine (Robert) Anthony, Laughlin, Nev.; sisters, Dora Wilson and Jeneal Gardner, both of Farmington; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Nephi Layton Foster; baby daughter, Vonna Lee; sons, Layton and Bruce; and several grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, Aug. 15 at 11 a.m. at the Price City Cemetery, 595 East 400 North. Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 15, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price.


Robert Lee Ashley


EAST CARBON – Robert Lee Ashley, 71, passed away Aug. 7, 2007 at his home.
Bob was born May 23, 1936 , in Ozark, Ark., to Robert Lee and Bessie Hensley Ashley. He married Rose Nadine Sleath Hopkins on Oct. 26, 1961.
Bob was an intelligent, opinionated man with a wonderful sense of humor who had a great love for family and friends.
He was so dedicated to “my Rose” that he stayed with her at Castle Country Care Center to help her adapt to living there. On his last day, he talked about things that were in their house because “my Rose likes them.”
Bob was a talented woodworker who hand-pieced several beautiful boxes for his family. He hand-finished gun stocks and leaded them so the rifles didn’t kick. He was highly skilled with leatherwork.
Bob served in the U.S. Army in Germany for four years. He earned an associate’s at the College of Eastern Utah and was an X-ray technician. He was a coal miner for many years and a dedicated member of UMWA.
He is survived by wife and her children Timothy A. (Trisha) Hopkins, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Melody Kim Patrick, Sunnyside; grandchildren Timothy R. Hopkins, Camille Hopkins, Ryan Patrick, Sheena Patrick, two great-grandchildren and many friends. He was preceded in death by parents, step-father Kenneth “Kink” Daniel; brothers, William Ashley and Gary Daniel.
Memorial services will be Friday, Aug. 17, 2 p.m., at Fausett Mortuary, 680 E. 100 South, Price. Cremains will be spread by family and friends at a later date.
Bob has requested no flowers.
