Grace Johansen
CASTLE DALE – “The great use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it.” – William James
A cry of “That’s my girl!” shook heaven on July 24, 2007 when Grace and Gene Johansen were reunited. Grace Lea Nixon Johansen, 87 of Castle Dale, died July 24, 2007 at her home.
She was born Aug. 24, 1919 in Hiawatha to Dr. James William Nixon III and Margaret Lea Nixon. She married Oral Eugene Johansen on May 11, 1940 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Grace was reared in Castle Dale and was a lifelong resident. She had a profound love for the community.
She graduated from Brigham Young University. She served the students of Castle Dale Elementary, North Emery High and Emery High as a drama, speech, English and PE (gymnastics) teacher for 37 years. She was a favorite teacher and was known with affection as “Mrs. Jo.”
Grace brought the first library to Emery County and was a staunch advocate of education. She spent countless hours in play practice and directed plays and musicals for the high school and for community theatre.
She directed the Blue and Gold Junior Riding Club in Castle Dale and loved to ride her horse, Queen, in her red cowboy hat. Her favorite place to be was at her cabin in Joes Valley with her husband and grandchildren.
`Her spirited personality, her penchant for storytelling and her relentless encouragement to be more will be deeply missed by those who loved her most.
She is survived by her children: Craig (Jonnie) Johansen, Castle Dale; Margaret (Dave) Oveson, Tetonia, Idaho; Brent (Debbie) Williams, Ogden; Scott (Laurel) Johansen, Castle Dale; Brice Williams, Orem; Natalie (Gary) Woodroffe, Vancouver, Wash, Nathan (Debbie) Johansen, Castle Dale; and her sister, Phyllis (Bruce) Mendenhall, Mapleton. She is also survived by 32 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Susan K.; one brother, Jim Nixon; and two sisters, Gladys Nelson and Marjorie Dean Robinson.
Funeral services will be July 28 at 11 a.m. at the Castle Dale Stake Center, 35 E. Main. Visitation will be July 27 at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Castle Dale Cemetery.
James Cima
PRICE/SALT LAKE – James (Jim) Marcel Cima passed away gently in the arms of his loving wife, Thursday evening July 19,2007.
Born July 22, 1928 in Peerless to Ernie A. and Birdie Leonard Cima. Married Marilyn Maynard June 30, 1952. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 23, 1955.
After graduating from Carbon High School, he served his country in the Navy during the Korean conflict.
Jim was an avid sports enthuses who enjoyed boxing, basketball, football, baseball, fishing and hunting. He coached youth baseball for over 15 years.
Jim worked as a salesman for several companies until he retired.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served in several positions, including a service mission to the Navajo Indians, elders quorum presidency and bishopric. He worked in the Salt Lake LDS Temple for eight years.
Jim was greatly loved and will be sorely missed. He was a devoted husband and father who cherished his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughter, Debi (Richard) Brady; son, Scott (Cindy); nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Ernie Cima and Jack (Ann) Cima; sisters, Pat Isaacs, Geri (Gary) Turnbull and Jill(Sherm) Peterson; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Funeral services will be Monday July 30, 11 a.m., at the East Millcreek 16th LDS Ward, 3408 Celeste Way(3120 South), Salt Lake City. Friends and family may visit Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church on Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Cecil Graham
PRICE – Our loving husband, father, brother, neighbor and dear friend, Cecil S. Graham Jr., age 84, passed away July 24, 2007 in Price.
He was born March 13, 1923 in Farmington, N.M., to Cecil S. Graham Sr., and Ruby Pearl Hayes. Married Ina Tumburas in 1971 in Provo and their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
Cecil was a wonderful neighbor, friend and an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He honorably served his country in the US Army during World War II, where he was awarded the purple heart.
Cecil was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed working the remote parts of Alaska as a bush pilot and tour guide with his wife.
He spent many hours in the mountains riding his four-wheeler, hunting, fishing and, each deer season, he looked forward to returning to the family ranch in New Mexico.
Cecil will be dearly missed by his family, neighbors, and many friends at the Senior Center in Price.
Survived by his wife, Ina Graham, Price; daughter, Cecila, Gallup, N.M.; sisters, Gertrude LaRose, Snowflake, Ariz.; Loretta Kruckeberg, Phoeniz, Ariz.; Pearl Jones, Arkansas; sisters-in-law, Lornel Nay, Price, and Barbara Wilson, Mapleton.
Funeral service Saturday, July 28, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Saturday one hour prior to service. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
David Wright
PRICE – David Samuel Wright, age 39, died July 23, 2007 at his home Price.
David was born Aug. 13, 1967 in Hayward, Calif., to Wayne and Beverly Wright. Married Lezlie Lauritsen on Aug. 3, 1995, later divorced. They have two children Jannicke and Torbjorn (Toby), whom he dearly loved.
David lived in California, Hawaii, Washington and Utah, but it was the North Shore of Oahu where he lived for 11 years that was a part of his heart and soul. David loved to surf, snorkel and boogie board. He loved music and loved to play the guitar. He liked doing calculus problems just for fun.
David loved studying foreign languages and was fluent in Spanish. He loved animals, especially his cats, Booty and Sissy. He loved his cable television and was an avid channel surfer. He loved chocolate milkshakes most of all.
David was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Ila Howell
PRICE – Our loving mother, grandmother and longtime friend, Ila May Abrams Howell, passed away July 17, 2007 in Price at the age of 84.
She was born March 12, 1923 in Eads, Colo., the last of nine children of Bert and Julia Johnson Abrams. Married Edward S. Howell Oct. 5, 1940 in Prescott, Ariz.. He passed away on October 6, 1986.
Ila was an avid reader. She enjoyed doing needlework and relaxing in the comfort of her home.
She loved traveling, caring for flowers, and it was said that she could make anything grow.
Ila could always be found in her home working on the computer, e-mailing family and friends or playing cards.
A favorite pastime was playing on her Nintendo; she said this helped her arthritis.
“We love you, Mom, and will miss you dearly”.
Ila is survived by two sons, Bill (Vicky) Howell, Helper, Leslie (Gretchen) Howell, Wellington; daughter, Lori Wallace, St. George; grandchildren, Amy, Erin, Rebecca, Lindsay and Jason; and two great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Talia. Preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Margaret Howell; son, Edward S. “Skip” Howell, Jr., five sisters and three brothers.

Allen S. Bills
SALT LAKE/SOLDIER SUMMIT – Allen Scott Bills, age 66, passed away July 18, 2007 at home while surrounded by his family.
He was born July 14, 1941 in Martin to Tracy Scott and Genevieve Hopper Bills. Married Sondra Christensen on Feb. 27, 1960 in Dragerton.
Allen was a former resident of Salt Lake, where he owned and operated A. & J. Furniture for many years.
In 1981, he returned to Carbon County and began working for Smith Transit driving miners to Valley Camp.
Allen loved the outdoors, archery hunting, fishing, and his most memorable memories were those he shared with family in his beloved Soldier Summit.
Survived by his wife, Sondra Bills, East Carbon; daughter, Dixie (Dennis) Nichols, Price; son, Jim (Rosie) Bills, Salt Lake; nine grandchildren and two and one-half great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was Monday, July 23, at Mitchell Funeral Home in Price. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
