Editor:
I hear that several Utah Legislators are going to China at taxpayer expense to “enhance relations and trade.”
I realize that nobody cares any more, but in case anyone wants to know, Article I Section 10 of the United States Constitution says, “No State shall, … enter into any agreement or compact with another State, or with a foreign Power …” As I read it, the Supreme Law of the land forbids Utah officers from going to China on a diplomatic mission. Maybe it’s not really written in English and only the Courts understand the Constitution.
Go read all of Section 10 of Article I and see if I am a silly extremist, or if our legislators are ignoring their own oaths of office.
