Editor:
There are seven reasons why Senators Hatch and Bennett must not support Senate Bill 1348.
First the bill triples chain migration through the year 2016, creating a mass importation of poverty into the United States.
Second, illegal aliens get “legal status before enforcement” begins:
Third, the completion of background checks, including checks against criminal and terrorist databases is not required for the granting of amnesty in this bill.
Fourth, criminals of all kinds, including gang members, child molesters, and 600,000 aliens who have already had their day in court and are subject to removal, are eligible for the bill’s mass amnesty.
Fifth, illegal aliens with terrorism connections are not barred from getting amnesty. An illegal alien seeking most immigration benefits must merely show “good moral character.”
Sixth, illegal aliens granted amnesty or guest workers imported via the new “Y” temporary worker program can claim the Earned Income Tax Credit, which will cost taxpayers billions in just 10 years.
Seventh, affidavits from friends are acceptable as evidence of satisfying requirements for amnesty, thus inviting fraud and more illegal immigration.
Eighth, in-state tuition and other higher education benefits will be made available to current illegal aliens that are granted amnesty, even if the same in-state tuition rates are not offered to all U.S. citizens.
Senator Ted Kennedy who is pushing this bill has been the sponsor of seven past amnesty bills, each of which has not only not stopped amnesty, but has encouraged it.
Now he and President Bush want U.S. citizens to suck it up again and pay for more illegal aliens to enjoy the benefits of citizenship without earning it.
It is time to stop this madness, it is time to step up and be counted, to act in the name of liberty and tell all of our elected officials,
Governor Huntsman included, to stop pampering illegals and to start prosecuting them.
Incidentally, all you have to do is watch the news and see who is committing the crimes.
