LaNelda Collette
SUNNYSIDE – On June 10, 2007, LaNelda Rae Brown Collette was once again united with her eternal companion.
She was born Aug. 23, 1931 to Vernon and Rhoda Williams Brown in Koosharem. She married the love of her life, Frank Edward Collette, Oct. 10, 1949 in Sunnyside. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple. They were a spectacular couple. Frank died May 29, 1993.
LaNelda was a devoted member of the LDS Church, working in the Manti LDS Temple.
She was famous for her cooking and was an expert seamstress. She was never happier than when she was entertaining and cooking.
LaNelda was a superb wife, mother, homemaker and grandmother. She and her husband made their home in Dragerton and Columbia; Carlsbad, N.M.; Oakland, Md; St. Clairsville, Ohio; Terre Haute, Ind.; Hazard, Ky.; Evansville, Ind.; and finally settled for good in Castle Dale.
She is survived by children, Diana (Doug) Litster of Salt Lake City; Debbie (Ritchie) Hibbert of La Grande, Ore.; Perry (Jackie) Collette of Pleasant Grove; and Tab (Cynthia) Collette of Ivins.She is also survived by sisters, Ella Dean Hunter of East Carbon; Janice (Denny) Sereano of Knoxville, Tenn.; Mary (Tom) Boatwright of Washington; brothers, DeLoss (Barbara) Brown of Carlsbad, N.M.; and Lonnie (Diane) Brown of Layton; and sisters-in-law, Marcy Boss of Delta, Colo.; and Phyllis Colette of Paonia, Colo. She leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 16, at 11 a.m. at the Castle Dale LDS Stake Center. Viewing will be at 9 a.m. Interment will be at the Castle Dale Cemetery.
Margaret Magnuson
CASTLE DALE – On June 13, 2007 after 92 years of valiant service, Margaret L. Magnuson went to a glorious reunion with a large family gone on before. She died peacefully at home surrounded by a family she loved and was cherished in return.
She was born Nov. 7, 1914 in Salt Lake City to Henry Lucas and Ellen Aldous. She was raised in Salt Lake and the Uintah Basin.
She married Edward Dean Cox on Nov. 21, 1935 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They moved to Castle Dale in 1936. They had four children. Dean was killed June 27, 1945 while serving in WWII. On March 30, 1948, she married Bruce Magnuson. They had four children and raised Bruce’s brothers and sister Jack, Gary and Elda.
Margaret served as Castle Dale city recorder for 44 years and in the Emery County Treasurer’s Office for 12 years, eight as treasurer.
She was also active in the LDS church and served faithfully in many callings.
She is survived by children, Richard (Hazel) Cox, Emery; John (Tawna) Magnuson, Helper; and Kathy (Norman) Vuksinick, Castle Dale; 14 grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by both husbands; her brother; sister; five children, MarDean Cox Riley, Kent Cox, Sharon Cox Fox, Ellen Faye Magnuson and infant daughter, Magnuson; and one grandson, Kelly James Riley.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Jed, Saralee and Ashley from CNS for their special care in the last few months and all her friends and family who helped in any way.
Services will be Monday, June 18 at 1 p.m. at the Castle Dale LDS Stake Center. Viewing will be June 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale and one hour prior to services at the LDS Stake Center.
Tanya Skinner
PRICE – Tanya Skinner, age 55, passed away June 7, 2007 in Helper.
She was born Nov. 1, 1951 in Price to Grady L. and Louise Brown O’Hearon. She was to be married to her soulmate, Rudy P. Santistevan, on August 11, 2007.
Tanya loved her dog, Pawco; working in the yard and dancing to Oldies.
Her pride and joy were her three daughters and grandchildren.
She is survived by her mother, Louise Brown O’Hearon; two brothers, Rick O’Hearon and Ted O’Hearon; daughters, Natasha Vanseters, Gina Tomadakis and Alisha E. Keddington; and her soulmate, Rudy P. Santistevan.She was preceded in death by her father, Grady L. O’Hearon; two brothers, Mayo O’Hearon, Grady “Butch” O’Hearon; two sisters, Esther Warshaw and Sandra Devorak.
Graveside services were Tuesday, June 12, at the Price City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Reggie Jones
PRICE – Our beloved son, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Reggie Lyndon Jones, earned his wings and returned home on June 12, 2007 with his loving children by his side.
He was born Oct. 18, 1954 in Price to Lynn W. and Fern Lenore Hunsaker Jones. Married the love of his life, Lori Lukich, Oct. 11, 1979; later divorced.
Reggie loved spending time with his family and friends, especially rock hunting, fishing, riding Harley Davidsons and just being free.
He will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Survived by son, Josh (Kristy) Jones, of Price; daughters, Sharlynne (Trent Bright), of Wellington; Sabrina Jones, of Price; Elizabeth Sears-Griffin (Pat) of Woods Cross; eight loving grandchildren; mother, Fern Jones-Mecham, East Carbon; brothers and sisters, LaRell (Carol) Jones, East Carbon; Myrna (Ben) Mead, Wellington; RaVenna (Hal) Firth, Soldier Summitt; Randy Jones, Wellington; Kyle Jones, Soldier Summit; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members and numerous friends. Preceded in death by father, Lynn W. Jones; stepfather, Klell Mecham; and brother, Joseph.
Memorial service Saturday, June 16, 4 p.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will gather at Mitchell’s Saturday one-half hour prior to service.
Ima A. Morgan
FERRON – Ima Adeline Quimby Morgan, 87, passed away June 12, 2007 in Ferron.
She was born to John Oliver and Cordelia Claire Willis Quimby on May 3, 1920 at Montesano,Wash. She was the third child in a family of five children, brother, Forest Garland; sisters, Velma Marie, Helen Claire and Charlotte Alberta. She lived her early years in Montesano and attended school there.
She married Raphael W. Monosso on Aug. 20, 1934 in Shelton, Wash. He was killed in action on March 7, 1945 in the Philippines while serving in the military in WWII.They were the parents of four children, daughter Cleo LoRenda; sons Dale Oliver, Richard William and James Leonard. She married David Wallace Morgan on Oct. 17, 1946 in Salt Lake City. They were endowed and sealed for eternity in the Manti LDS Temple on Aug. 1, 1978.
Wallace moved Ima and her family to Ophir in 1946. They became the parents of Elaine Claire, David Wallace, Nora Sue, Ima Jean, Richard William and Sherry Ann.They lived in Ophir, Tooele and eventually moved to Ferron on July 2, 1971.
While living in Tooele, she was employed at the Tooele Valley Nursing Home.
She was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Nov. 1, 1947 while living in Ophir. She held many callings in the church.She also spent many hours and years researching genealogy and doing temple work for her ancestors and relatives. In 1982, she was called to serve a mission in Mesa, Ariz. She served from September 1982 to May 1983.
Ima like to be outdoors. Her favorite times were spent fishing and camping and horseback riding.
She also liked to embroider. Many friends and relatives were recipients of embroidered kitchen towels and pillowcases.
She liked to travel and sight-see. She did so quite often, traveling throughout the United States, Germany and a tour that went to Australia.
She also liked to read. Her favorite stories were western stories written by Louis Lamour.
She liked seafood because it reminded her of her early years in Washington.
Her favorite candy was divinity.
She is survived by sons, James Leonard (Patricia) Monosso, David Wallace (Cheryl) Morgan, Richard William (Helen) Morgan; daughters, Elaine Crouse, Nora Sue (Jerry) Judd, Ima Jean (Shawn) Tomsich, Sherry Ann (Scott) Ford; sisters, Velma Marie Hoffine, Charlotte (Reid) Murray; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by husbands Raphael and Wallace; daughter, Cleo Hunt; sons, Dale Oliver Monosso and Richard William Monosso; brother, Forest Quimby; sister,Helen Quimby Pierce; and four grandchildren.
A special thanks is given to Rocky Mountain Hospice, Sandra Jensen, Jesse Wilcox, Pam Marsing, Rick Stockburger and Emery County Care and Rehabilitation Center administration and nurses.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 16, at 2 p.m. at the Millsite LDS Ward Chapel, 35 North 200 West. Viewing will be at the chapel from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Interment, Ferron City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Connie Jeffs
HELPER – Our loving wife, mother and grandmother, Connie Jean Marshall Jeffs, 66 of Helper, passed away at Castleview Hospital on June 11, 2007.
Born on Oct. 20, 1940 to Mary Ellen Davis and William Andrew Marshall. Married Carroll Dean Jeffs on Sept. 29, 1965 in Elko, Nev.
Mom loved life and her relationship with God.
She loved to crochet and sew for her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and teaching them about the Bible.
She also loved animals and especially her dog, Ginger.
Survived by loving husband, Carroll Dean Jeffs; seven children, Larry D. Hatch, Fairbanks, Ala.; Tammy (Gary) Jensen, Kerry Hatch, Susie (Scott) Henseler, Roy (Maria) Jeffs, John (Annie) Jeffs, Barbara Jeffs, all of Helper; brother, Larry and Sigrid Marshall, of Coeur D Alene, Idaho; sister, Sarah Byrge of Kenilworth; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents; and sister, Patricia Rogers.
Funeral service Friday, June 15 at 11 a.m. at the Price Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2821 So. Hwy. 10. Graveside dedication immediately following service at the Helper cemetery.
Orrin Snow
PRICE – Orrin Keith Snow, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, age 72, died Monday, June 4, 2007, due to a sudden heart attack.
He was born in Price on April 26, 1935 to Orrin Levi and Calla Winona Hill Snow of Wellington. He married Patricia Ann Sears June 20, 1963 in Salt Lake City.
Keith graduated from East High School in 1953. He graduated from the University of Utah with degree in business.
Keith went on to a successful career in the trucking transportation industry.
Keith served honorably in the Air National Guard and the Air Force reserve, retiring with the rank of Major.
He was a member of the LDS church with the office of elder.
Keith enjoyed boating, skiing, (snow and water) golf and reading.
He had a great sense of humor and a heart of gold. He was known for his honesty and loyalty as a friend and neighbor.
He was a great guy and will be missed by everybody who knew him.
Survived by wife, Patricia Ann; sons, Christopher William Snow, Patrick Burton (Lauren) Snow and Matthew Keith (Andrea) Snow; five grandchildren, Spencer Patrick (10), Jason Keith (7), Savannah Mary (2), Sarah Ann (1) and William Matthew (1); sister, Annette Clos. Also by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Flora Anderson and Maralyn Olsen; and brother, Mason Levi Snow.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, June 11, at Larkin Mortuary. Interment was at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
