This year Caleb Williams participated in the nation’s toughest wrestling series and rocked the competition by racking up 12 national championships.
Williams started with the Rocky Mountain National Series based out of Denver, Colo. When the series came to a close Williams had won five titles including the Triple Crown and the Golden Gear for the second year in a row. Williams is the first wrestler from Utah to achieve these titles and took it a step further this year by winning the series ultimate award, the championship belt which was competed for by over 4,500 wrestlers. Only three belts are given to nationwide wrestlers.
During the series Williams traveled to Denver three times, then to Nampa, Idaho and finally Disneyland where Williams had to move up a weight class. The same weight at which he won Reno’s World Championship with a 5-2 decision.
For the second year in a row Williams was inducted into the series hall of fame and recognized as an All American Wrestler.
In the Liberty Asics National Series based out of Kansas City, MO., Williams start out in Loveland, CO. at the Big Horn Nationals where Williams won most outstanding wrestler. Next the young phenom traveled to Kansas City Mo. winning the Liberty Nationals, and becoming a contender for the coveted American Crown Award.
Williams was able to win the award in Vallejo, Calif. by winning the West Coast Nationals. Only eight wrestlers nationwide have ever received this award. Williams is the first from Utah.
Finally Williams participated in the Cliff Keen Athletic series based out of Tulsa,Okla. where he won the Cliff Keen Kickoff, Tulsa Nationals, Reno Nationals and dominated the World Championships in Reno, Nev. During the World Championships, Williams received the most prestigious award in wrestling, the Trinity Award. The Cliff Keen series saw 6,000 athletes compete for this award during the 2006-2007 season. Williams was one of 19 to capture it. During the series Williams was also selected to the top position of the World All-Star Team, a position earned by showing dominant performances in all national tournaments.
Williams had a very dominant season and according to American Adrenaline Magazine, which is dedicated to and ranks national wrestlers, Williams is ranked the number one wrestler in the nation.
