An exciting learning and life skills program called SuperStart is being offered at Carbon County School District office this summer for 40 students going into grades eight thru 12. The dates for the program are June 12-14, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. The deadline for registration is May 18 .
SuperStart is the sister program to SuperCamp, a world-renowned summer enrichment program that has graduated over 45,000 students in 26 years and is held in the United States at such colleges as Stanford, Cornell, and Wake Forest.
Whereas individual students enroll into SuperCamp’s 10-day residential camps, SuperStart is offered by schools, school districts and education service centers for their own students, utilizing the same exciting curriculum and expert instructors as SuperCamp.
SuperStart is designed to lay the foundation for students to succeed through the mastery of learning and life skills and to develop self motivation, personal leadership, and character. The students master a core of powerful learning skills that can be applied to any course, at any level.
Some of the learning skills that are developed include test preparation and test taking, note taking, memory, writing, math mastery, school and home study techniques, time management and organization.
Students at SuperStart also learn valuable life skills that help them feel more confident, take responsibility for their choices, create successful relationships, think creatively and achieve life goals.
Life skills include a full character development program called the Eight Keys of Excellence, communication and relationship skills, taking responsibility and living above the line, creativity, problem solving, and conflict resolution.
“SuperStart is a wonderful opportunity for many more kids to gain the learning and life skills taught in SuperCamp,” said Bobbi DePorter, co-founder of SuperCamp and President of parent company Quantum Learning Network. This program typically costs students over hundreds of dollars per day, but is being offered to district students for a very low rate.
Robin Hussey at Carbon County School District office is in charge of the SuperStart program and has worked closely with Quantum Learning Network to put the program together for the secondary students in the district. ‘
