Jerry Wright
SPRING GLEN – Jerry “Chewy” L. Wright, age 54, passed away May 7, 2007.
He was born July 28, 1952 in Dragerton to Wilmer and Thelma Manchester Wright. Married Christy Robinson June 12, 1971 in Dragerton, later divorced. Married Heather Mills July 14, 2006 in Helper.
Chewy was a longtime resident of Carbon County, where he was employed at Dugout Canyon mine as a longwall maintenance coordinator.
He was a graduate of Raton High School in New Mexico, Class of 1969.
Chewy loved the outdoors and he cherished the times he shared with family and friends in his beloved Uintas. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fly fishing, hiking, and caring for his horse.
Chewy loved working with his hands, building lodge pole furniture, and he was always looking for a project to keep him busy.
He will be dearly missed by his family and many longtime friends.
Survived by wife, Heather Wright, Spring Glen; two sons and one daughter, Jerry L. (Shelley) Wright Jr., Price; Shanon W. (Kevin) Philips, Salt Lake City; Tidge T. (Teri) Wright, Price; stepchildren, Natasha Olsen, Price; Zac and Randi Garmann, both of Spring Glen; sister, Claudette (Lou) Mele, Price; Walt (Linda) Wright, Paonia, Colo.; grandchildren, Tyler, Allison, Morgan, Braxton, Jordan, Raygann, Johna, and Randee; and one great-granddaughter, Jacey. He was preceded in death by parents.
Memorial graveside service Friday, May 11, 11 a.m., at Price City Cemetery under the directions of Mitchell Funeral Home.
William Houskeeper
EAST CARBON/WELLINGTON – William Kent Houskeeper passed away peacefully at home May 8, 2007.
Kent was able to remain at home as he wished during his long battle with cancer due to the constant and tender care of his loving wife, Helen.
Born Nov. 19, 1921 in Orangeville, to William Henry Houskeeper and Martha Burnett. He married Mary Helen Blackburn June 8, 1942 in Santa Monica, Calif. They were sealed in the Manti LDS Temple April 4, 1945 and enjoyed an enduring life together for nearly 65 years.
Kent was in the CCC and later served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in many callings, including ward clerk and stake clerk.
He had a great love for genealogy and extraction work and spent countless hours doing so.
Kent always worked long hours throughout his life.
He was a barber owning and operating his shop in Dragerton, East Carbon, for 57 years. He always enjoyed his many friends and patrons.
He was also a coal miner and was a member of UMWA Local 9958.
He made time to serve his community as an East Carbon City councilmember, and police chief for a time as well.
He was a good man and his love and association will be greatly missed by many.
Survived by wife; daughters, Carrie (Alvie) Ward, Kaysville; Kathryn (Michael) Peczuh, Carbonville; sons, Gary, Price; Karl (Joyce) Wellington; 14 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Ted (Rosetta) Houskeeper, Ogden; Grant (Naomi) Houskeeper, Salt Lake; sisters, Carol (Norman) Brown, Riverton; and Sarah (Sherman) Howard, Riverton. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Cliffe and George; sisters, Reba, Wilma, Fawn Ella, and Anna Vee; daughter-in-law, Kayrene; and great-grandson, Ryker Houskeeper.
His family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Glen Etzel and staff, Rocky Mountain Hospice, Rick Stockburger, Sunny and Deborah for their wonderful care, and especially family and friends for their love and support.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 11, 11 a.m., at the Wellington 4th LDS Ward Chapel. Viewing Thursday, May 10, at Fausett Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services. Interment, Ferron City Cemetery.
Sharon McDonald
FERRON – Sharon “Mac” McDonald, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away May 4, 2007 after a long valiant battle with cancer.
He was born June 18, 1931 in Ferron to William John and Eva Jensen McDonald.
Sharon graduated from Carbon High School, Utah State University, and had a masters degree from Oregon State University.
He retired from the Grant School District in 1991, where he was an exceptional teacher, counselor and coach for 35 years.
After retirement, he continued teaching special programs, coaching and working in the scouting program.
Sharon also served his country with pride and honor as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954.
He was most proud of his family and he loved them dearly.
He is survived by wife of 54 years, Joanne; son, David William (Tianna); daughters, JoEllen (Rick) Gough; Michelle Baird; Kristen McDonald; and Beth McDonald; five grandchildren, Shawn (Sharidi) Gough; Nicholas (Nichole) Gough; Whitney Gough; Mac Baird; and Alex Baird; three great-grandchildren, Mason, Bailey and Mikayla Gough. He is also survived by twin sisters, Shannon Gee (Philip) and Norine Verde. He was preceded in death by parents, William John and Eva Jensen McDonald; and sister, Madge Larson.
Viewing will be at Price Funeral Chapel, 6335 Sunrise Boulevard, from noon to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15. Services will be Wednesday, May 16, at 1 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints North Highlands 1st Ward Chapel, 6450 Walerga Road, North Highlands. Interment will be Friday, May 18, at 1 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mausoleum, 1950 E. 10600 South, Sandy.
Stella Perea
PRICE – Stella Gallegos Perea, age 90, passed away May 8, 2008 in Price.
She was born Oct. 22, 1916 in Pecos, N.M., to Atanacio and Jennie Dalton Gallegos. Married Pete Tony Perea May 23, 1934 in Las Vegas, N.M.; he died May 20, 2003.
Stella was a member of the Notre Dame de Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, where she attended Mass every Sunday.
She loved to crochet, bowl, and her favorite was bowling on the mixed league with her husband, Pete.
Stella had a great love for her grandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren and they all affectionately called her “Grandma Cookie.”
We love you and will miss you for all your loving and caring ways.
Survived by one daughter and four sons, Pat (Rex) Tryon, Dick (Connie) Perea, Gary (Irene) Perea, all of Price; Ralph Perea and Dottie Byrd, Moab; Pete (Peggy) Perea, Salt Lake City; 26 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents; three brothers, Tony, Bill Albert; five sisters, Agnes, Vera, Mida, Louisa and Lena.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Dr. Shane Gagon and the entire staff at the Parkdale Care Center.

Genevieve Ward
PRESCOTT, Ariz. – Genevieve Ward passed away April 13, 2007 in Prescott, Ariz. at the age of 85.
Genevieve was born Oct. 5, 1921 in Standardville to Don and Katie Newberry. She grew up in the coal mining camps where her father was employed.
Genevieve was a wonderful, caring person who spent her life in service to others.
She had many talents, including oil painting and making handmade quilts. She enjoyed the outdoors and planting beautiful flowers. She lived in Prescott, Ariz., for the last six years of her life with her daughter and son-in-law.
Genevieve is survived by daughter, Michele; granddaughters, Stephanie Hicks and Heather Wood; step-granddaughter, Amy Capito, step-grandson, Jason Capito, great-grandchildren, Cylaney, Rylan and Caedon, step-great-grandchildren, Dylan, Ethan, Emerson and Andrew.
She was the fourth of five children, her brothers were Don Newberry, Genesse Newberry, Martell Newberry; and sister, Josephine Lee. All preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by loving husband, Ray Ward; and son, Don Ward.
Services were April 18 in Prescott, Ariz., with a future graveside service planned at Price City Cemetery.
