A rock and mineral show will be presented in the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center at the College of Eastern Utah on June 8 and June 9.
Show times from noon to 7 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. respectively.
This event is geared toward rock, fossil, mineral collectors and enthusiasts.
It will include a variety of vendors selling rocks, fossils, minerals, jewelry, metal detectors, equipment, stone engravings, beads and more.
Vendors will be selling items for the smallest collector who attends all the way to items for the serious collector.
The show will also include demonstrations, displays from college students, as well as displays from private collections and more.
Adult attendees may register for a chance to win one of many great door prizes. The grand prize will be a donated fossil dinosaur egg.
Scouts, youth and other interested groups are encouraged to attend.
The show will have some vendors who are coming in from all around Utah and neighboring states for the event.
In addition, there will be items on display from CEU students and faculty as well as items from longtime rock hobbyists.
This will be a fun and exciting event for anyone that is interested in rocks, science, art, or those looking for a new hobby.
There will be vendors who will have art made out rock such as stone engravings.
There will also be vendors who make jewelry using rocks or carvings out of rocks.
In the aspects of ancient art, a local flint knapper will be demonstrating how to make spear points and arrowheads.
For those interested in science, there will be fossils, interesting dinosaur items, minerals and even books to find out about anything to do with this hobby. Rock hobbyists will be interested in specimens as well as equipment.
The equipment will include a full line of metal detectors, rock hunting tools and even gold panning items.
Experienced hobbyists will be there to answer any questions on equipment or how to get started .
Along with this rock show, the group is in the process of forming a rock club that will serve the residents of Carbon and Emery County.
Among other things, club members will attend monthly meetings, learn and share their interests in this hobby, and go on collecting field trips within the area and throughout the state.
Those attending will discover the amazing things that nature has to offer.
There is no admission fee required to attend the show.
The event is co-sponsored by the College of Eastern Utah’s continuing education department, silversmithing and lapidary classes and the Castle County Travel Bureau.
