The Smith sisters start the 1600 meter run. They finished first and second, blowing away their competition.

On April 10 the Carbon High track team hosted Emery during the “Blue and Black” track meet. The Dino’s were able to down the Spartans 387-350 in a meet that pitted the boys’ and girls’ scores against one another.
“We had several athletes perform very well,” said Carbon High Coach Jimmy Jewkes.
Paul Goodrich won the 1,600-meter run as well as the 200-meter dash. Travis Hepworth placed second place in the 300-meter hurdles, third in the 100 meters and second in the boys high jump. Ladies Samantha and Patricia Smith placed first and second in the 1,600 meters and Brenda Davis won the ladies discus with Ericka Potts winning the shot put. Carbon Lady Dinos high jumpers placed second through sixth in their event.
According to Coach Jewkes, Felisha Olmos continues to improve as the year goes along.
“She is really looking to step up and help the team along as region gets closer,” said Jewkes. “She is hands down the best freshman girl runner in the region right now and she is giving the juniors and seniors in the region a scare,” continued the Carbon High Coach.
Jewkes went on to report that overall the Dinos had a lot of athletes perform well.
“It is nice to see the team working together,” added Jewkes.
“We have all of our kids cheering each other on, they are beginning to understand the team part of track and field. With the success of the program this year we are hoping to build the popularity of the sport within the high school. It has really been a great year so far,” concluded Jewkes.
