James Ward
CLEVELAND – James (Jim) Lavoy Ward, age 80, passed away at home surrounded by his family on April 14, 2007.
Jim was born Aug. 24, 1926 to Ernest Edgar and Matilda Thorderson Ward. His mother died when he was six months old. From that time on he was raised by Moses and Florence Tucker. On Oct. 11, 1947, he married Mary Kathryn Fletcher, later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on Sept. 5, 1959. Together they raised seven children.
Jim was always very athletic. He played basketball and track in high school, although baseball was always his favorite.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He worked in the coal mines until a tragic accident forced him to go elsewhere. He graduated from BYU with a bachelor’s degree in education. He taught and coached in Wayne County. He continued his education and became a principal at Spring Glen Elementary. He also taught at Durrant and Cleveland elementaries. He later coached all sports and taught at North Emery Junior High. In 1970, after 17 years of teaching, he became a mine safety inspector, which he did for 20 years. Instead of retiring, he worked the remainder of his life with his son-in-law and grandson at Chute Supply.
Jim was an active member of the LDS church and served in many callings. He and Kath worked in the Manti LDS Temple for nine years. Together they also served an LDS mission in Morgantown, W.Va., where Jim got the chance to teach Institute at West Virginia University.
Although Jim may be gone, his one-of-a-kind personality will live on through the memories of all the loved ones left behind.
Jim is survived by soul mate of 60 years, Kath; six children, Trudi (Boyd) Griffin, Toni (Parke) Killpack, Kathy (Mark) Pratt, Sandee Ward, Tracee Goff, Kohn Ward; daughter-in-law, Susan Ward; sister, Madge Nelson; and brother, Tom Ward; 23 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by son, James Cory; grandson, Brody Killpack; infant granddaughter, Destinee Ward; and two sets of parents.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 17, 11 a.m., at the Cleveland LDS Chapel. A viewing will take place one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial, Cleveland City Cemetery, under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Lisa Wilde
PRICE – Lisa Phyllis James Wilde, 49, loving wife, mom, grandma, daughter and sister passed away April 14, 2007 in Price following surgery.
She was born Oct. 26, 1957 in Price to Glen L. and Leah Phyllis Nielsen James. She married Jan L. Wilde on May 28, 1979.
Lisa was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her boys were her life and she wanted the best for them. Her granddaughter, Callie, was a joy to her.
She spent some time working for the Carbon School District where she worked with the special needs children. She had a soft heart for those who are less fortunate in this life.
Lisa is survived by husband, Jan of Price; sons, Derek Jan and Brian Ross also of Price; and granddaughter, Callie; mother, Leah James of Helper; sisters, Cathy (Randy) Lamph of Helper, Peggy (Garn) Pollock of Bountiful, Paula (David) Mortensen of Provo, Jamie (Scott) Preston of Spring Glen, Glena (Ralph) Vose of Helper, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by father, Glen LeRoy James.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, April 18, 11 a.m., at the Cliffview Cemetery. Viewing will take place Tuesday, April 17, 6 to 8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price prior to services. Burial, Cliffview Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
