Brady Wilde gets tagged out to end the third as he tries to stretch a double into a triple against American Leadership Academy.

Perfect baseball weather greeted the Carbon baseball team on Thursday as they took on American Leadership Academy for their home opener.
ALA was supposed to host the game, but since their field wasn’t ready, the Dinos were able to play the game in front of a friendly home crowd. It ended up being a 14-1 rout of the visitors.
The Eagles put the first run on the board with a score in the first.
The Dinos answered right back with two. ALA had no answer as they went down quick in the second.
Carbon loaded up the bases, but hit into a double play with a scorcher to a diving third basemen who then tagged third for the final out.
Again the pitching of Brady Wilde shut down the Eagles and held them scoreless.
It was the third inning that Carbon’s bats really came alive. Seven runs later a close play at third base finished off the inning.
Kyle Asay came on in relief and continued to shut out ALA without a whimper. In the fourth, Carbon continued to string together a series of hits.
In the end they racked up five more to be in the position to end the game in five.
ALA attempted to keep themselves in the game with some aggressive base running. Asay walked two and with two outs, the Eagles attempted to steal third.
Wilde put down the tag to end the game. Marcus Zaccaria almost hit for the cycle as he had a double, triple and a homer. Asay belted out three doubles.
Coach Moynier was happy with both his team’s hitting and the pitching. “Brady struggled in his last outing, but he pitched a good game this time and Kyle came in and pitched well, too.”
He did say that games that become a blow out make him nervous, because he worries that his team will let down. But to his relief they didn’t and played strong throughout the whole game.
Back on the road next week, the Dinos begin region play against Juan Diego on Tuesday and then Emery on Friday.
