Elisha Harris shows some finesse in an earlier game.

Each time the Lady Eagles and Snow met up in regular season, the outcome was unpredictable. But CEU had been playing some of their best basketball in the last two match-ups and took that momentum into the first round of the SWAC Tournament to defeat Snow 76-74. Their luck didn’t hold as they faced number one seeded Salt Lake Community College on Friday and were sent home with a 49-84 spanking.
In the meeting with Snow, CEU found themselves behind by six at the end of the half. They stepped up their play and put the game to bed with two points to spare. Elisha Harris, playing in her final games with the Eagles, exploded for 20. She was helped by Jenny Fiso with 17. Staci Little continued to show a dominate force with five blocked shots and 14 rebounds.
They were hoping to carry some of the momentum into their game with SLCC. It would not materialize. SLCC’s defense shut down CEU only allowing them 17 points while they put 40 on the board. CEU did find some offense in the second half but the damage was done. Losing by 35 points was one of the worst defeats for the Lady Eagles in a long while. SLCC went on to win the SWAC title.
Even in defeat, Harris managed to put 18 on the board. She was the sole CEU player in double figures. Little again blocked 5 shots and pulled in 13 rebounds in the losing cause. SLCC also got to the free throw line twice as often as CEU.
This was the final game for many of the starters. There will be many fresh faces for the squad for next year.
