The Lady Dinos second basemen makes a close tag. The ladies play in Pineview on Mar. 15.

Taking a young team with very few returning starters down to face 2A powerhouse San Juan was not a recipe for getting a win. The Dinos softball team struggled to find their bearings as San Juan took no mercy on the mostly fresh faces that took the field.
Coach Tony Pinedo knew that it would be an uphill battle to take on such a good team so early in the season, but if they are going to get some experience, it might as well be against a good team. Carbon got in a hole quickly as the Broncos put up three runs in each of the first two innings. They were able to hold the Broncos to only one more run until the fifth when the Broncos put up three more to seal the win.
Paige Pinedo was the losing pitcher for Carbon. Kelsey Gillespe got the only hit for the Dinos. “They had a good pitcher and we made some mistakes with our defense early in the game that took us out of it,” Pinedo commented. “The good thing is that we got better as the game progressed and began making some good contact.”
The Lady Dinos head to Pineview on March 15th and then will go down to St. George for a tournament. Pinedo is hoping that with a few easier games and a lot of them, the girls will get there feet on the ground before region play gets underway.
