Michael Tullio
PRICE – Michael Anthony Tullio, age 70, passed away suddenly March 3, 2007 in Price.
Born Feb. 6, 1937 in Somerset, Colo., to Mike and Celea Coletti Tullio. Married Beatrice Dodge, May 2, 1969 at Saint Mathew’s Episcopal Church in Grand Junction, Colo.
Michael honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 to 1958.
He was longtime resident of Colorado, where he retired from U.S. Steel Coal Company after 21 years of service. Member of the United Mine Workers of America local 6417, in Somerset, Colo.
He enjoyed hunting, camping, watching TV and his greatest enjoyment came from watching his grandchildren and sharing in their activities.
Survived by loving wife, Bea Tullio, Price; daughter, Tammy (Justin) Jensen, Spring Glen; son, Gene (Bridget) Tullio, Helper; grandchildren, Colby, Dylan, Rex, Rhett and Jessica; sister, Shirley Morgan, Delta, Colo.; brothers, Bruce (Pat) Tullio, Delta, Colo.; and Rusty (Vicki) Tullio, Tulsa, Okla.
Memorial service, Thursday, March 8, 3 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Thursday one-half hour prior to service.
Leo Espinosa
GREEN RIVER – Leo Kenneth Espinosa, age 65, passed away March 1, 2007 in Provo. Kenny was born Christmas Day, 1941 in Standardville to Leo and Vera (Monsen) Espinosa.
Kenny loved southeastern Utah. He loved the pursuit of knowledge and truth. He was an avid reader of books and had a large library of the books he read.
He played guitar and keyboard and loved open tuning, classical and soundscape style music. Kenny was an accomplished artistan, leather smith, and word smith.
Throughout his life, he had two stores, started the co-op in Jerome, Ariz.; ran an art gallery in Santa Fe, N.M.; and became a consultant for the silkscreen printing industry while in Denver, Colo.
Kenny has three children, Tanya Cabot, Christian Espinosa and Indra Espinosa; plus several grandchildren. He has two living siblings, Delana (Al) Cleveland and Scott Espinosa.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 6, 1:30 p.m. at the Green River Bible Church, Green River. Viewing will be prior to services from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the church. Internment, Green River Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Pearl Gardner
HELPER/WEST JORDAN – Pearl Gale Gardner passed away on Feb 28, 2007 from kidney failure.
She was born in Mapleton to Pearl Estella Beckstrom and John Davis Gale on Aug. 9, 1921. After graduating from Carbon High, Pearl married her high school sweetheart, Darwin Gardner in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Aug 27, 1941. She was widowed when he was killed in the Philippines May 3, 1945, near the end of World War II. She spent the rest of her life in devoted service to her family and Heavenly Father.
She lived in Helper most of her life. Due to declining health, she moved to West Jordan to live with her daughter for the past four and one-half years.
Pearl was a proud mother and grandmother who always found it easy to brag about her family to anyone who was willing to listen. She loved hugs and made friends easily.
She was member of the Castle Country Quilters and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, something that brought blessings of many wonderful friendships.
All of her grandchildren have benefited from her talents with beautiful handmade quilts made with love. She enjoyed many kinds of crafts and handiwork and was always willing to share her knowledge and learn from others.
Pearl was a lady of faith who served in all the auxiliaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including many years as Helper Ward and Carbon Stake Relief Society president. She also served a mission in the Manti LDS Temple, a calling she loved. She had an unwavering testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
She was a loyal employee of Dinosaur Tire for 26 years working as a bookkeeper. She also worked for Helper Furniture, Cloverleaf Dairy and Price Auto Parts.
Pearl is survived by daughter, Marilyn (Micheal) Atencio; grandchildren, Mark (Suzanne) Atencio; Bart (Renee) Atencio; Merrilee (Cory) Longhurst; Janae Atencio; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, John B. Gale; many well loved nieces and nephews; and many friends in Carbon County. Preceded in death by parents; husband, John Darwin; infant daughter, Pearl Mary; and seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were Monday, March 5, in the Westland 7th LDS Ward Chapel, West Jordan. Burial, Spanish Fork Cemetery.
Steve Johnson
HELPER – Our loving and dedicated father, grandfather, brother and soul mate, Stephen Michael Johnson, age 63, passed away March 4, 2007 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer with his family by his side.
Born Sept. 29, 1943 in Woods Cross to William Wayne and Bernice Frandsen Johnson.
Married LaRue Rug, September 30, 1963, later divorced. Then he met the love of his life Clara Romero, who he spent the last 20 years with. He was her loving companion, best friend and soul mate. I love you, Steve.
Steve was a man of many trades and he dedicated his life to his profession. He owned and operated Price Check Auto and many other businesses over the past 40 years.
Served as a medic in the United States Army.
Steve’s favorite pasttimes were riding his Harley, cooking, playing pool, and most of all camping with his family. He had an open sense of humor and he loved to make everyone laugh. Steve was always the one that knew how to have a good time, he was generous and willing to give a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He leaves behind soul mate, Clara Romero; children, Marcie Fisher; Spencer (Madonna) Johnson; Natalie (Eric) Nish; Dorothy (Mike) Vigil; grandchildren, Casey, Shandi, Cody and Jordan Fisher; Micheal and Mathew Johnson; McKayla, Takiah and Destinee Nish; Makael, Camryn and Mikey Vigil; sisters, Gail (Dean) Harrison; Carol (Mel) Miller; Jane Dula; brothers, Kim (Patsy) Johnson; and Kurt (Barbara) Johnson. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Robert Johnson; brother-in-law, Fred Dula; grandparents; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family thanks the staff of Utah Valley Hospital, Dr. Nathan Rich and a special thanks to Community Nursing Service and Debbie Hansen, hospice nurse.

Cherrie Myers
WELLINGTON – Our loving dedicated wife, mother, daughter, auntie, passed away March 2, 2007.
She was born April 25, 1971 in Salt Lake City to Garth and Carmel Jensen.
Cherrie put most of her energy into raising her two sons. Also nieces and nephews, and took pride in her role as a loving wife and loyal daughter and friend.
Cherrie put great faith in Jehovah.
She enjoyed bringing joy to the lives of all around her with her unforgettable smile and laughing. She was generous in giving, most of all bringing smiles and laughter from others.
She enjoyed being with family and friends, spending time in the outdoors, fishing and decorating her home and yard. Warm summer months were her favorite.
Survived by husband, Michael Myers Jr.; sons, Seth and Bodee; parents, Garth and Carmel Jensen of Colorado; grandparents, Moises and Albina Herrera, Price; brothers, Clint Jensen of Colorado; David Herrera of Colorado; David Jensen of Florida; Kevin and Kelly Jensen of California; and sister-in-law, Raquel Herrera, of Colorado.
Memorial Service will be Saturday, March 10, 3 p.m., at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 720 N. Cedar Hills Drive, Price. A meal will be served at Pinnacle Canyon Academy (old Notre Dame School), 210 N. 600 East, Price, following services.
Marie Rees
PRICE – Marie Sargent Rees, age 89, died March 4, 2007 in Price, surrounded by her family.
She was born Feb. 23, 1918 in Grass Creek to Joseph Andrew and Betsy (Bell) Sargent. She married Everett LeRoy Rees, June 30, 1936 in Coalville. She was preceded in death by Everett on April 10, 1967. They were later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple May 23, 1968 for time and all eternity.
She loved to garden and could be seen with her walker and chair weeding her flowerbeds all summer. She also was an expert at sewing and knitting and shared these talents with anyone that needed a hand.
Marie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints. She served in many positions over her life in the church.
Marie is survived by children, Janet (Alma) Blonquist, Coalville; Marion (Robert) White, Yuma, Ariz.; Kristeen (James) Fowler, Overland Park, Kan.; and Evelyn (Kent) Olsen, Carbonville. Marie is survived by 15 granchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Also survived by sister, Glenna (Verno) Hunt, Ogden; and brother, Ralph Sargent, Hoytsville. She is preceded in death by husband; parents; and brothers, Joseph Newell, George, Clarence, Kenneth; and sister, Bell Sargent Calderwood.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 7, 11 a.m., at the Price LDS 5th Ward Chapel, 545 E. 400 North, Price. Viewing will be Tuesday, March 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary, and one hour prior to services. Internment, Thursday March 8, 12:30 p.m., at the Coalville City Cemetery. Viewing, Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon at the Walker Mortuary prior to burial in Coalville, under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Teresa DeSimone
PRICE/ALBANY, Ore. – Teresa M. (Colzani) DeSimone, 92, of Albany, Ore, formerly of Price, passed away Feb. 15, 2007 of natural causes at Regency Care Center in Albany, Ore.
Teresa was born in Kenilworth, the daughter of John and Josephine (Magnoni) Colzani. She was raised in Price. She married Gabriel DeSimone in Castle Dale on Nov. 9, 1946.
In 1952 the family moved to Boulder City, Nev. In 1956 the family moved to Albany, Ore., where Gabriel was involved in the development of Wah Chang. Gabriel passed away on Jan 9, 1965 and in June of that year Teresa and her two children moved back to Price.
In 1969, Teresa enrolled in the licensed practitioner nurse program at the College of Eastern Utah and graduated in June of 1970 fulfilling a lifelong dream of hers to be a nurse. Later that month Teresa and her daughter moved back to Albany, Ore., where she began her career at Albany General Hospital retiring in 1979.
Teresa loved children and was very involved in the children’s department at her church. She was also a woman of prayer and enjoyed watching sports and being with her grandchildren. Teresa was a member of the Albany First Assembly of God and will be missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by daughter, Kathy A. Mitchell and husband Marlin of Albany, Ore.; Angelo J. DeSimone and wife Shelley of Albany, Ore.; grandson Cory P. DeSimone and wife Tina of Albany, Ore.; and two great-grandchildren, Kori Elaine and Gabriel John. She was preceded in death by husband, Gabriel; brother, Vincent Colzani; and sisters, Louise (Colzani) Cerulli; and Jennie (Colzani) Wright.
Private family memorial service. Teresa’s remains will be returned home to Price where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Gabriel, and next to her father, John; mother, Josephine; and brother, Vincent Colzani.
Zeferino Zamudio
GREEN RIVER – Zeferino Monarez Zamudio, age 75, passed away peacefully March 1, 2007 in Price.
He was born Aug. 26, 1931 in Tejamen, Durango, Mexico, to Cipriano and Lucrecia Monarez Zamudio. Married Juana Batrez, Sept. 5, 1951 in Tejamen, Canatlan, Durango, Mexico; she died Nov. 24, 2004.
Zeferino enjoyed working, traveling, and visiting with friends.
Survived by three sons, Manuel (Viviette) Samudio, Price; Cipriano Zamudio and Armando (Ana Virginia) Zamudio, both of Green River.
Graveside services were Monday, March 5, at the Elgin Cemetery in Green River. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.
