Joey Keller throws up a shot in a previous game vs. North Sanpete.

In a fight to keep sole possession of third place in Region Eight play, the Dinos fell short to a good Emery team on Friday night. The Dinos had no answer to the Spartan offenses as they went down to defeat 39-66.
Emery took an early lead with strong inside shooting and the Dinos were in a 12 point hole by the end of the first. They let the lead grow to 16 by the half.
Carbon came out a bit stronger on D the second half of play, but they just could not get a bucket when they needed it and the deficit just kept creeping up. The final outcome was obvious late in the game as the Dinos went down hard to Emery.
Joey Keller had the most success for the Dinos with 11 points and Erick Buchmiller was able to score 10. Ryan Rasmussen hit the only three on the night for the Dinos. Emery was hot from beyond the arc, sinking eight threes.
“We just couldn’t contain them in the paint and when we did they just kicked it out and hit a three.” stated Coach Bianco. “We had no answer for their scoring. If we could have made some baskets we would have made a game of it.”
For now there is a two way tie for second place. Emery will meet up with North Sanpete this week for their final region game. The outcome of that game could determine if there is a three way tie again for the third spot. North Sanpete beat Emery earlier this season.
The Dinos wrap up region play with a home game against Juan Diego on Wednesday night. A win could help them move back into sole possession of third. If Emery wins they will take third. Either way Carbon will go on the road for their first game of the playoffs. Tip off for the final home game of the season is at 7:00 Wednesday night.
