Two-vehicle accident near east Price interchange claims life of Carbon County teen

Emergency and law enforcement crews respond to the scene of a fatal accident early Saturday morning on U.S. Highway 6 near the east Price junction with Utah Highway 55. Reports from Utah Highway Patrol indicate that the driver of a small red car, a 17-year-old female from Price, was traveling eastbound and crossed the center line just after placing a call on her cellular phone. The local teenager’s vehicle purportedly collided head-on with a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction. The driver of the passenger car was reportedly killed instantly. UHP officials said the unidentified victim was not wearing a seatbelt when the collision occurred. All four of the pickup’s occupants are from Colorado and were wearing safety belts. One passenger reportedly suffered fa broken leg, but no other injuries were reported.
