Zack Jones drives hard against the Dixie Flyers. Jones connect on a pair of three pointers in Friday’s game.

Christmas brought another non-region loss for the Carbon Dinos on Friday afternoon. The bright spot is that the team will have some time to rest, regroup and heal up time before region play begins. Dixie came into town and took the game from the Dinos by the score of 51-41.
Coach Bianco had little to say after the game. He is feeling like his team can come around and find their winning touch. “They’re a good group of kids,” was one of his few quotes Friday night.
The Dinos came out strong and were up by six at the end of the first quarter of play. Fouls plagued some of the starters and by the second quarter most of them were sitting on the bench. Dixie took advantage of the new lineup and outscored Carbon 18-5 in the second period of play.
In the hole by seven, the Dinos just couldn’t make up any ground. Moynier picked up his third foul early in the third and sat out again for a stretch. Dixie began to find themselves in foul trouble as the game went on and the Dinos managed to hold their own at the line making the game close.
As the game came down to the final five minutes of play, the Dinos made a final push, but fell short. Hard fouls on both sides had the officials calling a close game in the waning minutes of play.
Brandon Wilson led the Dinos with 12. Zac Jones hit a pair of threes and Jordan Moynier added 10 points.
Carbon will travel to play Union on December 29. followed by a trip to Uintah on January 3. Region play begins for the Dinos at Juan Diego on the Jan. 10.
