Jordan Moynier fights for a rebound against Cedar. Moynier had 23 points in the Springville game. |
Sometimes the final outcome does not tell the whole story. A struggling Dino team went head to head with a much bigger and stronger team from Springville and despite losing 88-63, walked away with pride.
Coach Bianco knew going in that his team was facing the best squad it had taken on this year. Springville is a big, athletic team that is dominating its opponents. But in the end, Bianco was please with things he saw on the floor. He knows that the players need to improve the way they are taking care of the ball and improve their defense if they are to have some success this season in region play, but all in all he felt like the boys played a good game. Bianco also needs to get his inside guys more involved to balance the Dino attack.
Carbon held its own in the first quarter, only falling behind by four. It was the middle half of the game where the Red Devils really took over and dominated the Dinos. By the end of the third period of play Carbon was down 41-69.
The Dinos did continue to play strong and stepped it up in the fourth to outscore the Red Devils 22-19. The hole they were in was too deep and they took another loss to go to 2-7 on the season.
Jordan Moynier was back in his role as the leader, hitting 23 points on the night. Dustin Pollastro stuck in another 12. Sophomore Dayton Martindale continues to contribute from outside as he hit a three. Brandon Wilson also contributed a long ball.
Carbon plays at home on Friday afternoon. Game time is an early 3 p.m. The Dinos take on Dixie.
