A heavily damaged sedan rests on the shoulder of U.S. Highway 191 approximately five miles north of Carbon power plant at the junction of U.S. Highway 6 last Thursday. A Utah Highway Patrol spokesperson indicated that the Nov. 2 accident purportedly occurred after the northbound sedan purportedly left U.S. 191 and driver Keith Owens overcorrected the vehicle. Passenger Carolyn Anderson was apparently trapped inside the sedan following the mishap. Anderson and Owens were transported from the accident scene to Castleview Hospital by private vehicle. Law enforcement personnel said alcohol appeared to have been a contributing factor in the traffic incident. UHP’s spokesperson indicated Owens was arrested at the hospital for allegedly driving under the influence of an intoxicant (DUI) in connection with the accident.
