Brandy Fieger and Brittnie McNally serve cups of dutch oven grub to elementary students at the Lighthouse Alternative School in Price on Oct. 27. The school sponsored a mountain man rendezvous and invited all fourth graders in the district to participate in the day’s activities.
Fourth graders were provided with a hands-on educational activity which directly relates to their study of Utah history in social studies. Lighthouse students were given the chance to show leadership and teaching skills.
Mountain man enthusiasts from Carbon and Emery counties joined with school teachers to provide activities relating to the life of fur trappers. The Utah Division of Wildlife Management provided a display of animals which trappers often hunted for trade.
