Courtney Seal and members of her family sift through loose soil as search and rescue crews dig into a location of interest to cadaver dogs in Garley Wash on Saturday. The Seals’ youngest son, Jayden, was swept from the family’s vehicle at the end of July when it was overtaken in a flash flood.
With support from various canines and their handlers, searchers made a final run through the wash between Helper and Price over the weekend. Search and rescue teams from Duchesne and Carbon counties combed through the wash led by dogs trained to sniff out the scent of human remains. While the canines showed interest in some areas, the search yielded no new results.
The Seal family organized their own search of the area on Sunday. They said they were appreciative of the efforts made by local agencies to find the missing child. While local authorities have called off further search, family members said they will continue search efforts on their own.
