U.S. Highway 6 between Scofield Junction and Soldier Summit was covered with snow on Saturday morning as drivers had to switch from summer to winter. Only a couple of days before, the temperatures in the area were above 80 degrees. On Saturday temperatures fell well below freezing. The Utah Highway Patrol urges motorists to be safe and slow down. Over the Labor Day weekend the highway had zero fatalities on it, as compared to the rest of the state which had nine. UHP officials said the combined efforts of extra enforcement patrols from both state and local agencies helped keep that figure at zero. They hope that good driving records will spill over into the fall and winter months as well.
