Larissa Ivory played a good defensive game like this dig against a Juan Diego serve. |
The Dino Volleyball squad returned to their winning ways with a quick win over Juan Diego in their first match up of the season.
Carbon took the match in three straight games. With scores of 25-20, 25-13, and 25-12, the girls took the wind right out of a good Juan Diego team.
Service errors by Carbon kept Juan Diego in the first game, but the Dinos settled down in their serving and began getting the ball in play.
Coach Bean was happy with the play of his team once they settled down. He still wants to see some improvement in their serving.
He did like the way his squad passed the ball and kept the Juan Diego offense on its heels the entire three game set.
Megan Garvin was outstanding again with 13 kills on the night. Defensively, Bean was also impressed with Larisa Ivory’s game. Ivory plays as a defensive specialist and her passing skills help the offense set up its plays as they need to.
All in all, Bean felt like it was a good win to begin region play with. Juan Diego always has a good team and gives Carbon a run for their money.
Next up for the team is Delta on Sept. 21. This will be an away match.
Carbon does not play a home meet again until Sept. 26 when they will meet up with North Sanpete.
