Lauren Barnett sends the ball over two Park City blockers.

At home on Thursday night against Park City, the Carbon volleyball team radiated with confidence, adding yet another victory as they downed the Lady Miners in three games.
The Lady Dinos made quick work of the Miners in the first game of the match with a 25-7 win. Park City gave it their all in the second game, even taking the lead a few times. But Carbon would not be denied and played with poise even when trailing by a point or two. They took the second and closest game of the match, 25-20.
Smelling a sweep, the girls came out to win. A bit of over confidence may have contributed to letting the Miners jump out to another slight lead. The girls settled down and finished off their opponent 25-17.
Megan Garvin served up seven aces during the match. Sophomore Julia Potts added 32 assists to steer the team to victory.
Next up for the squad was Canyonview, who came to town on Tuesday. Carbon had the lead most of the way through the first game when they let Canyonview back in to steal the game 25-23.
Playing from behind Carbon let the second game stay close until the teams were tied at 15. Then the Dinos slowly pulled away and went on to take the second game. Game three was about the same, but Carbon pulled away a little sooner and gained a 2-1 lead in the match.
Momentum was now in Carbon’s court and they began to feel that the match was theirs to take. They continued to play better as the game went along and closed out the match in four games.
Megan Garvin racked up 23 kills on the night. Erika Potts stung Canyonview with five service aces in the four game set.
Coach Bean felt like his team came out flat, but improved as the night went on.
“It wasn’t pretty” he admitted, “but it was a win.”
The volleyball team will now take on Grantsville on Sept.7th and then host a tournament at Carbon High school on Sept 8-9.
