Nathan Garner and Anna Madrigal-Austin accept checks for $1000 from Carbon County Sheriff James Cordova as part of a program from the Utah Sheriff’s Association. Each year the association gives away numerous scholarships to deserving students from many areas of the state. Garner is going to the University of Utah after attending the College of Eastern Utah. He is majoring in computer science. Madrigal-Austin is in her second year at CEU and plans on furthering her education at Utah State in human development and family community service. Both are graduates of Carbon High School.
