Bernard Malone
GREEN RIVER/COSTA MESA, Calif. – A beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Bernard (Bernie) Miles Malone, passed away Aug. 3, 2006 in Costa Mesa, Calif., at the age of 77 of cancer.
Bernie was born Nov. 20, 1928 to John and Bertha Malone in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He married Georgia Oliphant and they divorced. Bernie married Joyce Malone and they made their home in Costa Mesa, Calif., for the last 25 years.
He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa, where he excelled in sports and was senior class president.
He was a long time member of the Elks.
Bernie worked in the aerospace industry throughout Southern California and Southern Utah for more than 40 years. He loved his work and especially loved his time at the missile base in Green River.
Bernie was a man with a soft voice, a sharp wit and an easy smile and had the ability to make a friend or stranger laugh.
His favorite holiday was St. Patrick’s Day and, up until a few years ago, all his old friends would stop by for a “wee bit of the Blarney.”
He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce; children, Mike (Jane) Malone, Wilmington, N.C.; Pat (Judy) Malone, Portland, Ore.; Mollie Rogers, Salt Lake City; and Danny Malone; as well as three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Joyce’s four children and seven grandchildren. His grandson, Jason Malone, predeceased him as well as parents; brother, Jim; and sister, Margaret.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. Rest in peace, dear Bernie.
Lois Nielsen
PROVO – Lois Gifford Nielsen, our devoted mother, grandmother and friend, peacefully left this world to join her beloved husband, Stan, on Aug. 10, 2006.
Born Jan. 22, 1923 to Arthur Lamont and Cora Driggs Gifford in Victor, Idaho. Lois attended BYU, where she met and married basketball star, H. Stanley Nielsen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 23, 1941.
Lois and Stan raised their family of five daughters and one son in Springville and Provo, where for 14 years they operated the Cherry Lane boarding house, dubbed “Maniac Mansion.”
Lois also had careers in the field of medicine and design, working in the offices of Dr. David Reese and Dr. Craig Morrison for more than 25 years, as well as decorating homes for numerous Utah residents and professionally designing Christmas trees in private homes and for the Festival of Trees.
Lois served in various callings within the LDS church culminating in her service as a temple worker in Provo and a guide at the LDS conference center.
Friends were extremely important throughout Lois’ life including members of the “no name, do nothing club” which began in newlywed years and still functions today.
Known and loved by her extensive family and countless friends for her boundless energy and drive, excellence in homemaking, love for music, medical expertise and knowledge, quick wit and “can do” attitude and charity in championing those she loved, especially the “underdog.”
This powerful matriarch will be greatly missed by many, including nieces and nephews who thought of her as a second mother.
Although Lois’ passing will leave a void, the brightness of her love and talent warms the hearts of each person whose life she touched.
She is survived by children, Nancy (John) Boswell, Julie (Fred) Skousen, Shirley (Tom) Baltzer, Peggy (Elwin) Atwood, Laurie (Larry) Beardall, and Gifford (Wendy) Nielsen; 25 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; sister, Polly Fillmore; brother- and sister-in-law, Lyndy and Maridon Nielsen; five sisters-in-law, Honey Gifford, Roberta Nielsen, Dawna Killen, Mary Louise Jones and Letha Hudgins. Preceded in death by husband, H. Stanley Nielsen; brother and sister, Bud and Bonne Gifford; and brother-in-law, Evan Nielsen.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 15, in the Cascade LDS 4th Ward building, 1051 E. 200 North, Orem. Family and friends may call at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Timpanogos Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Orem.

William Forbush
PRICE/DRAPER – William Robert “Billy” Forbush returned to his Heavenly Father on Aug. 12, 2006.
He was born May 12, 1977 in Provo to John and Linda Forbush. He was raised in Price.
He was a kind and gentle person who always had a big smile and a big heart. He loved his family and his many friends.
Billy enjoyed riding his bullet bike, boating, four-wheeling and body building. Last year his dream of owning his own trucking company came to fruition when he started Forbush Trucking with his dad.
Survived by parents; sister, Lacey (Casey) Stevenson; brother, Troy (Missy) Crompton; nephews, Levi John Stevenson and Chandler Crompton; niece, Abby Crompton; grandparents, Bill and Olympia Cave; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by best friends, Danny Olsen and Justin Wells; grandparents, Lawrence Burnett Forbush and Sara May Park Forbush; and uncle, Lawrence Forbush.

George Greenwood
PRICE – George Alma Greenwood Sr. returned to his first home July 22, 2006 at the age of 84.
A resident of Hinkley, Calif., since December 1966, he was born June 4, 1922 in Price to Alma and Mabel (Jensen) Greenwood.
He leaves behind wife of almost 58 years, Caro; sons Phillip (Katherine) of Oregon; David of Hinkley, Calif.; and daughter Ruth (Richard) Langley of Barstow, Calif.; sisters Joyce (Alan) Melson of Utah; Ella Santi of California; and Lois (Horace) Thayn of California; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.The second of seven children, he was preceded in death by parents; brother; two of five sisters; and son, George Jr.
Graveside service will be Monday, Aug. 21, 10 a.m., Mt. View Memorial Park, 37067 Irwin Road, Barstow, Calif. After service, family will be at the Hinkley residence between 1 and 4 p.m.
The family suggests that donations in his memory may be sent to the Craft Room Fund at the Barstow Veteran’s Home, 100 Veteran’s Parkway, Barstow CA 92311, in care of Hortensia Miller, secretary.
Teresa M. Ori
SPRING GLEN – Teresa M. Ori passed away Aug. 10, 2006 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law who were caring for her.
She was born July 17, 1912 to Filimena and Rosairo Fazzio in Sunnyside. Married Tony A. Ori on April 26, 1936; he preceded her in death in 1990. She was raised on a dairy farm in Spring Glen.
Teresa worked in Price Steam Laundry for 40 years. She was a member of the Ladies of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Italian Lodge in Helper and a lifelong resident of Carbon County.
Teresa was a special lady, always full of joy and always smiling. She loved people and especially her family.
She is survived by daughter, Theresa (William) Wheeler; and many godchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by brothers, Sam Fazzio, Joseph Fazzio and Isaiac Fazzio; sisters, Josephine Perri, Filimena Bonacci, Mary Driscoll, Martha Lacey and Vera Marston; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Aug. 16 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua, 5 South Main, Helper. Vigil Service will begin at 10 a.m. Friends may call upon the family on Tuesday, August 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 S. 900 East, Salt Lake City. Interment to follow at Mountain View cemetery.
The family extends special thanks to Heartwood Hospice, especially Christy, Veronica, Tyrone, Dr. Thomas Calame and Dr. Keith Lane of Salt Lake Regional Medical Center.
