Letter to the Editor: Disrespectful

By Sun Advocate

Editor:
On Memorial Day, as I usually do, I took a large wreath made from American Legion veterans poppies to the cemeteries. One for the old cemetery veteran monument and this year I made a second one for the new cemetery because it was being dedicated.
This is something the American Legion Auxiliary has done for years to honor those brave men and women who have given their lives to keep us free.
I returned to the new cemetery a few hours later and found the wreath in several pieces. The stand and ribbons were still in place, so it wasn’t the wind, but the wreath was in pieces. Making these wreaths are very time consuming and expensive to make.
The site of this brought tears to my eyes and a pain in my heart. I could not belive that someone living in our town could be so destructive and disrespectful.
