Needing to shake off the nightmare of the 20-5 loss against Delta last Friday, the Carbon Dinos baseball team headed down to battle rival Emery. The Friday loss was the team’s first region loss in 15 games (going back through last years championship season) and the team wanted desperately to get back on track.
They did that on Emery’s home field with a 4-1 victory.
Adam Martinez was back on the mound and had his good stuff going as he held the Spartans to a shut out through the first four innings. The Dinos pounded out nine hits in the game, but it was tough pushing the runs across the plate.
Carbon scored in the third and again in the fifth to keep the lead. Emery’s only score came in the fifth with a lone run crossing the plate.
The game was on the line until the Dinos pushed two more over in the seventh. Emery had no answer to the final scoring effort of the Dinos.
Carbon remains ranked 5th in 3A and is in second place in the region behind Delta who has a perfect league record so far.
The team will play at home this Friday as they go head to head with North Sanpete starting at 3:30 p.m.
