Price Officer Brian Judd discusses the importance of calling 911 only in emergencies with Kyler Ashby. The public safety dispatch center received a 911 phone call from the Sun Advocate on Monday afternoon, and sent an officer to respond. Ashby was spending part of an afternoon at the newspaper office in Price. Ashby had reportedly called 911 like he had been taught in school. However, no emergency had taken place at the newspaper office and the call was apparently unwarranted. Judd told Ashby what happens when he calls 911. He reminded him that in emergencies, it is the right thing to do. However, the officer reminded Ashby that calling public safety dispatch without an emergency uses resources to respond to a non-emergency. Carbon County parents are urged to teach children the right and wrong reasons to call 911.
