Norman Pike
PRICE/PASCO, Wash. – Norman Wallace Pike passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Jan. 21, 1006 in Pasco, Wash.
He was born May 19, 1927 to Leonard Anthony Pike and Lucille Quinney Pike in Price where he grew up.
Norm was drafted and served in World War II from August 1945 until he was honorably discharged in December 1946.
He moved to Richland, Wash. in 1952 to work for GE where he would soon meet and wed Mary Bernadette Shinker at St. Patrick’s on June 6, 1953.
Norm and his family moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1972 and returned to the Tri-Cities area in 1976 where he worked and retired from Energy NW in 1994.
Norm and Mary “Deets” Pike were devoted to each other for more than 52 years and fondly remember their 50th wedding anniversary with family and long time friends.
Norm loved family and friends, especially his grandchildren and he always had a joke or two. Over the years he enjoyed dancing, cribbage, hunting, fishing, oil painting and gardening where he was always hunting down weeds in his meticulous lawn. He took up golf upon retiring and loved watching westerns, John Wayne, the Lakers, Dolphins and Detroit Tigers and listening to Johnny Cash.
Norm is survived by wife, Mary; daughter, Debbie and Kreg Brasel and children Jason and Alissa; son, Bruce and Liz Pike and children, Daniel, Allen and Paige; daughter, Toni and Scott Strodel; daughter, Tami and Ed Shea and children Chloe and Claire; son, Brian Pike and children, Ryan and Sierra; brothers, Bob Pike of Price; and Donald Pike of Ashville, Ohio. Norm is preceded in death by infant children, Mary and Joseph Pike; brothers, Bruce Pike and Allen “Bud” Pike; and parents, Leonard and Lucille Pike.
Services will be Thursday, Jan. 26, 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s, 1320 W. Henry in Pasco, Wash., and a rosary was Wednesday, Jan. 25 at Greenlee Funeral Home, 1608 W. Court St., Pasco, Wash.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Avalon Health and Rehabilitation Center for their care, compassion and support throughout Norm’s stay. Patricia Rogers
STANDARDVILLE/MAGNA – Patricia Joy Rogers, 56, our loving mom and grandma, passed away Jan. 23, 2006.
She was born Dec. 1, 1949 in Standardville to John and Mary Ellen Davis Reese. She married Alan Lee Rogers on May 15, 1982 in Price. Alan preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 2004.
Patricia worked at the Veterans Administration Medical Center for several years and at extended care centers in Price.
Family was important – followed by shopping! Patricia’s influence was wide spread, including family, friends, patients and associates. She was a friend to all.
Survived by children, Destri (Robert) Kenley, Josh (Miriam) Ellis; grandchildren, Heather (Kevin) LeFevre, Lacey Kenley, Danny Ellis, Alexis Ellis; sisters and brother, Sarah Dean Byrge, Connie (Carol) Jeffs, Larry (Siegrid) Marshall, Bill Reese and Beverly. Also many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband; son, Troy Dean Warren.
Graveside funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 27 at noon at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South Redwood Road, Bluffdale.
John Losik
SPRING GLEN/BASALT, Colo. – John Henry Losik, 87, passed away at his residence in Basalt, Colo., on Jan. 23, 2006.
John was born July 16, 1918 in Franklin, Kan., to Louis and Geneieve (Migdol) Losik. He married Dorothy (Millarich) Horvath on Dec. 13, 1952.
He lived in Chicago, Ill., Peerless and Spring Glen before moving to Glenwood Springs, Colo., in 1959. He was a resident of Carbondale, Colo., from 1961 until his death where he lived near his daughter, Tina Grange.
He worked in coal mines for 38 years in Utah and Colorado. He also did construction work in Aspen, Vail and Steamboat Springs, Colo.
He enjoyed working with wood and helped several people in Carbondale with work on their homes. He also refinished furniture and enjoyed working in his yard and garden. He loved polka dancing.
He is survived by sons, Stephen (Nancy) Losik of Big Piney, Wyo.; Carl J. Losik, Casper, Wyo.; daughter, Tina (Jimmy) Grange of Basalt, Colo.; eight grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by wife, Dorothy; parents, Louis and Geneieve Losik; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Rosary was at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church in Basalt Colo., Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m., and a Mass of Resurrection will be held at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church, 250 Midland, Basalt, Colo., at 10 a.m., on Thursday, Jan. 26. Interment, Evergreen Cemetery, Carbondale, Colo.
