Ina Twitchell
PRICE – Ina A. Twitchell, age 84, passed away Jan. 18, 2006 at the South Valley Health Center in West Jordan.
She was born April 12, 1921 in Cleveland, to Andrew and Ina Jensen Franklin. She married Carl W. Twitchell on March 11, 1992 in Vernal. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple on July 22, 1995.
Ina is survived by children, Laraine Lister, Darlene Walberg, Dee (John) Lister, Larry (Diane) Shelley, Laurell Coe, Beverly (Doug) Jolley and Lance Revo. Also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, Carl.
A graveside service will be Saturday, Jan. 21, 1 p.m. at the Manila Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Arnold Wayman
FERRON – Our loving father, Arnold LaForour Wayman, returned to his Heavenly Father on Jan. 22, 2006 in Salt Lake City. He was surrounded by his children and his loved ones at the time of his death. He was 74.
Arnold was born in Ferron on Dec. 16, 1931 to Arnold and Amy Wayman. He married Maureen Davison May 22, 1963. They had three children together, Marie, April and Douglas. They later divorced. Arnold married Sharon Brown on Feb. 19, 1972 and had two more children, Arnie and Sandy. They also later divorced.
Arnold loved and supported his family. He worked at the Hunter Power Plant for close to 20 years. He spent his life farming and enjoyed including his children in the work.
In later years, he enjoyed reading the scriptures and taught his family the gospel by the way he lived his life. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was an ordained high priest.
We are grateful for the time God allowed us to spend with him. He was dearly loved and he will be missed.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 26, at noon, in the Blue Hills LDS Chapel, 200 N. State Street in Ferron. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale and one hour prior to service at the church. Burial, Ferron City Cemetery.
Kurt Williams
CASTLE DALE – Kurt Duane Williams, loving husband, father, brother, son, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, left this earthly existence back to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father after a valient battle with cancer on Jan. 22, 2006 in Provo.
Kurt was born on May 7, 1942 to Glen Duane and Carol Clayton Williams, a direct descendant of William Clayton. He was raised in Salt Lake City and served a full time LDS mission in Australia. He also joined the Army and was a Green Beret paratrooper. Kurt later attended Brigham Young University where he met his best friend Karon Payne Williams. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Sept. 9, 1965.
Kurt was a very hard worker, hauling coal for local trucking companies, but his real passion was his current hobby as a car dealer.
Kurt is survived by wife, Karon Payne Williams; children, Scott Duane and Charlotte Williams, Kajsia Williams, and Corey and Natille Sorensen; grandchildren, Shelby, Sierra, Mercedes, Stefan, Sam, Clara, JoAnna, baby boy Sorensen and baby Williams; great-grandchild MaKayla; brothers and sisters, Joan and Clair Lloyd, Peggy and Rod Jacobsen, Coray and Jonie Williams, and Leslie and Trevor Boyd; and mother, Carolyn Clayton Williams.
Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 27, at 1 p.m. at the Castle Dale 3rd Ward LDS Chapel with a viewing one hour prior. There will also be a viewing Thursday, Jan. 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale. Interment, Castle Dale Cemetery.
Marlan Mitchell
EMERY/RUTH, Nev. – Marlan Whitman Mitchell, age 68, passed away Jan. 12, 2006 in Las Vegas, Nev., from injuries received in an auto accident.
He was born Aug. 3, 1937 in Salt Lake City to Emery Willey and Dorothy Whitman Mitchell.
Longtime resident of California and Nevada, where he worked as a laborer for the Santa Ana Local 652 and later retired from the Las Vegas Local 872. Marlan enjoyed the solitude of the desert and all it had to offer. He will be dearly missed by his family and many longtime friends.
Survived by daughter, Dorothy June Mitchell; grandchildren, Skyler, Erica and Taylor; brothers, Maurae “Ray” (Nora) Whitman Mitchell, Merrell (Maria) Whitman Mitchell; sister, Mardith M. (Brad) Biedermann. Prededed in death by parents; sister, Marlene Mitchell Gowdy; and nephew, Jeffrey Gowdy.
Funeral service was Saturday, Jan. 21, in the Emery LDS Ward Chapel under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
Paul Pappas Jr.
HIAWATHA/WEST CARROLLTON, Ohio – Paul Pappas Jr., 69, of West Carrollton, Ohio, passed away at his home, surrounded by his wife and children following a lengthy illness on Monday, Jan. 9, 2006.
He was born in Hiawatha to Paul and Annie Nucich Pappas. Married Shirley Tomsich in Price in 1959.
Paul loved and was devoted to his family and enjoyed all the special times spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived by wife of over 46 years, Shirley; daughter, Paula (Scott) Cooper, Ohio; son, Troy (Carla) Pappas, Ohio; grandchildren, Trisha, Gavin and Layla Cooper and Heather Pappas; great-granddaughter, Alanna Grace; mother, Price; brother, Louis (Betty) Pappas, Price; sister, Patricia (Herbert) Richardson, Mesquite, Nev.; sisters-in-law, Janet Dovayak, Dodie Shepherd; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by father; and brother, Angelo.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the Newcomer Funeral Home in Kettering, Ohio. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery, West Carrollton, Ohio. Helen Brown
HUNTINGTON – Our cherished mother, Helen Brown, has left her much-loved deserts and garden to share a well-deserved rest with her husband. She passed away peacefully in her home Jan. 21, 2006, leaving her children and grandchildren with memories of a life lived to serve, nurture and create beauty.
Helen was born Jan. 7, 1926 in Orangeville, to Samuel Marks Miles and Ella Peacock Miles. She married Carl William Brown in Orangeville on Aug. 4, 1944; that marriage was later sealed in the Manti LDS Temple.
Helen’s was a difficult life, raising her two young sons alone after Carl’s death on April 14, 1962. But Miles and Lee remember most of her love of fishing and gardening, her delightful meals, and a tradition of beautiful quilts, needlework and crocheted treasures.
She leaves behind her sons, Miles Leon and Jerri L. Brown of Brigham City; Mervin Lee and Maureen Brown of Syracuse; grandchildren, Rachel Post, Rebecca Smith, Samuel Brown, Liberty Westover, Carl Brown, April Brown and McKenna Brown. Helen’s legacy includes four great-grandchildren, Kimball, Caitlin, Nathan and Alyssa. She is also survived by brother, Mervin S. and Gale Miles. She was preceded in death by parents; sister, Jane Heiniger; and infant brother.
Viewings will be Tuesday, Jan. 24, 6 to 8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Huntington 4th Ward LDS Chapel on Main Street. The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. at the Huntington Chapel. She will be laid to rest in the Huntington City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
