County recreation slates Scofield snow ride, rents winter gear to residents

Carbon County Recreation along with more than 30 local businesses will sponsor the Scofield snow ride event Feb. 11
The ride begins at the entrance to the Mountain Home subdivision on the west side of Scofield Reservoir.
Registered riders need to be at the location no later than 9 a.m. on the day of the event.
The ride is a 42-mile loop and the mid-point is at Tucker, where lunch will be served.
There will also be a drawing for prizes.
Registrations may be made at Carbon County Recreation.
The fee includes participation in the event, a snow ride T-shirt and a Dutch oven lunch.
Registrations may be mailed to Carbon County Recreation at 90 N. 100 East Price, UT 84501.
In addition, the county recreation department has ice skates and a limited number of cross-country skis available for residents to rent.
To rent skates or skis, Carbon County residents may call CCR anytime during regular office hours.
Office hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m.. to 5 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday.
People interested in renting ice skates or skis for nominal fees may also stop by the county recreation office during the designated business hours.
The skates can be used in many areas in Castle Valley, but Carbon County has an outdoor ice pond located at the fairgrounds.
Carbon County Recreation also has additional winter gear for rent like snowshoes, snow sleds, crampons, mountaineering axes, avalanche beacons, avalanche search probes, snow shovels, winter sleeping bags and a satellite phone.
