A distant snowplow makes its way west along Main Street as the white stuff started to accumulate Monday morning on the pavement in downtown Price. Empty streets made conditions easier for crews focusing on removing the snow from local highways. But later in the day, the intensity of the storm increased as vehicles began to fill up the parking slots and the job of removing the snow became more difficult to accomplish. By mid-morning on Jan. 2, the removal efforts and local vehicle traffic transformed the icy, snow-packed streets at locations across the Carbon County area into wet, slushy roadways.
