Earl Wilson
PRICE – Earl Lewis Wislon, age 79, passed away at his home on Dec. 27, 2005.
He was born April 8, 1926 in Wagoner, Okla., to Curtis E. Wilson and Norma P. Thorton Wilson. He married Bonnie Faye Cunningham in 1943, later divorced. Married Nancy Lea Butts Jan. 8, 1962 in Carson City, Nev.
He owned and operated night clubs in California for many years before moving to Utah in 1977 to open a restaurant in Orem. He moved to Price in 1979, where he worked for Metro Oil Co. managing the East Price Metro store until his retirement in 1988, where everyone would stop in just for the friendly conversation. He was always one to help people who were down on their luck or needed a tank of gas between paydays. He never turned away anyone in need.
Through his retirement years, he took great pride in spending time with his grandkids, never missing a birthday or holiday event with them, spoiling them as grandparents do and often pulling out his harmonica to play them a happy tune from his youth.
Our dad, granddad and Grandpa Earl was a very loving and giving person who touched the hearts of everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Survived by four sons, Benny E. Wilson, Curtis L. Wilson, Fresno, Calif.; Harry (Carrie) Wilson and Charley (Kris) Wilson; five grandchildren, Colt, Preston, Alexus, Zachory and Wyatt; one sister, Ethel Embry, Texas; two brothers, Bobby Wilson, Texas; J.D. Wilson, California; many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Preceded in death by wife, Nancy; parents; one sister and infant brother.
Memorial graveside service will be Wednesday, Jan. 4, at 11 a.m. in the Wellington City Cemetery.
Marian Allen
GREEN RIVER – Marian V. Worthen Allen, 72, passed away Dec. 26, 2005 in Riverside, Calif.
Born May 10, 1933 in Rochester (Moore) to Peter Clayton and Vernell Seely Worthen. She married Lewis David Allen on June 1, 1956 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Marian enjoyed painting, crafts, gardening and reading.
She was a member of the LDS Church, where she held many callings.
She graduated from Carbon High School, CEU and BYU; master’s degree from Phoenix University.
Survived by her husband, Lewis, Perris, Calif.; sons, Ted, Moreno Valley, Calif.; Levi (Kelly), West Valley City; and Blaine, Green River; daughters, Deborah (Jose) Rojas, Green River; and Doreen, Perris, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also survived by a brother, Ellis (Olga) Worthen, Salt Lake City; and a sister, Connie (Garth) Noyes, Escalante. Preceded in death by her parents and a son, Ken Daniel Allen.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m. at the Green River LDS Ward Chapel, where friends and family may call one hour prior to the service for a viewing. Burial in the Elgin Cemetery, Green River, under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Sherrie Gianette
PRICE/LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Sherrie Annette Reva Gianette, age 61, died Dec. 24, 2005 after a long illness.
Born June 24, 1944 in Price to Anthony “Tony” and Jennie Reva. Raised in Hiawatha. Married Ralph Gianette in 1964.
Worked as an LPN for many years.
Preceded in death by parents. Survived by husband; three children, Anthony, Mathew and Gina; nine grandchildren; one sister, two brothers, Arlene (Norm) Vukinick, John (Marilyn) Reva, Peter R. Reva; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Jan. 6 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Ruth Pyper
FERRON – Ruth North Pyper died peacefully Dec. 29, 2005 in Ferron at the age of 97 from complications of pneumonia.
Born March 21, 1908 in Charleston to Albert Ashael and Mary Steadman North. She was the second of five children. Ruth married Ray Van Pyper on Sept. 26, 1932 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with seven children. Together, they ran the family farm in Midway.
After Ray’s death in 1963, Ruth and her children moved to Salt Lake City, where she lived for 20 years. In 1983, Ruth moved to Ferron, where she resided until her death.
Ruth was a woman of service. She served valiantly in various positions in the LDS Church, including many years in the Relief Society and as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River LDS Temple.
Ruth also provided much service to her family, children and grandchildren. Her family was the light of her life. She loved each one and could never say enough good about every one of them.
Ruth was a hard worker, a good cook and an avid reader. She always kept her hands and mind busy. She enjoyed crocheting and embroidery work. She also enjoyed canning homegrown fruits and vegetables.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Van Pyper, on Dec. 1, 1963; daughter, Mary Lou Harvey; son-in-law, Gale Dugmore; brothers, Jessie and Leslie North; sister, Ferl Julander; and three grandchildren. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Delwin and Diane Pyper, Panama City, Fla.; Idonna Dugmore, Ferron; Alda and Elroy Stucki, Beaver; Ruth Joyce and Joseph McGee, Antioch, Tenn.; Ken and Sue Pyper, Miller Creek; Mel and Starla Pyper, Wellington; and sister, LaVern Evans, Heber; 40 grandchildren, 77 great-granchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m. at the Millsite LDS Ward Chapel 35 West 200 North in Ferron, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Midway City Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Merril Lamont Young Jr.
WELLINGTON – Merril Lamont Young Jr., 70, passed away at his home in Wellington on Dec. 30, 2005.
He was born May 11, 1935 in Mohrland, the son of Merril Lamont and Sybil Seeley Young. He married Marilyn Olsen on June 29, 1954 in Ferron, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Merril loved the outdoors and was the happiest whether fishing, hunting or camping.
Merril is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his children, Loralie (Randy) Thayn, Wellington; Colleen (Larry) Swasey, Price; Jeffrey (Terri) Young, Helper; Ranae Young, Salt Lake City; and Sandra (Tom) Hoopes, Sandy; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also survived by a sister, Reva Mae Dorrell, Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Farnum and Jerry.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 4, at 11 a.m. at the Wellington 1st LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call Tuesday, Jan. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary, 680 E. 100 South, Price, and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment, Wellington cemetery.
Margueritte Draper
PRICE/DURANGO, Colo. – Margueritte Aubert Draper died Dec. 29, 2005 in a family home surround by her children and grandchildren. She was 78.
Mrs. Draper was born in Ancille, France, but was raised in Price and at her beloved family ranch on Pinon Mesa near Grand Junction, Colo.
She was a lifelong member of Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Parish in Price.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 18 years, Arthur P. Draper; parents, Grace and Florenz Aubert; and brother, August Aubert.
She is survided by two daughters and a son-in-law, Electa Draper, Durango, Colo.; and Paula and Mike Thomas, Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren, Michael, Kyle and Sean Thomas, all of Albuquerque, N.M.; great-granddaughter, Aelea; sister, Julie Garvin, Salinas, Calif.; and brother, Lawrence Aubert, Grand Junction, Colo.
Recitation of rosary will be Tuesday, Jan. 3, 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home, Price. Mass of christian burial is Wednesday, Jan. 4, 10 a.m., Notre Dame. Burial will follow at Price City Cemetery.
