CHS Girl Swimmers, Boy Divers Win Meets Against Rivals

It was a week for the water for the Carbon High girls swim team and the boys diving team.
The girl paddlers beat Uintah High School 88-83 to take their first meet win of the season.
Meanwhile the Dino boy divers took a duel meet away from Bear River High as high placements won the day.
Top swimmers on the girls team were Kelsey Gillespie who took first in the 100 free and second in the 50 free and Megan Brandon who took first in the 500 free and third in the 200 free.
Other finishers included April Sorensen who took second in both the 200 IM and the 100 backstroke; Ali Baum who took second in the 200 free and third in the 100 breaststroke; Amanda Ewan who took second in the 100 free and third in the 100 backstroke; and Erica Perkins who placed third in both the 50 free and 500 free.
In the diving meet Michael Glasson placed second, Travis Hobbs took seventh, Kent Olsen took eighth and Jacob Perez took 10th. The combined score added up to a win.
The girl divers placed fourth as a team with Chelsey Cloward placing 10th and Katie Hobbs 11th.
The boys swimming team was beaten by Uintah 153 to 58.
Once again Leo Yu led the Carbon team with two first places. He won in the 100 free and 100 backstroke.
Randy Slane also took a first place in the 100 fly to go along with his fifth place finish in the 100 backstroke.
Other finishers included Jimmy Dilley with a second in 500 free and a fifth in the 50 free; Terrance Henrie with a fourth in 200 free and fifth in 500 free; Ryan Slane with a fourth in the 200 IM and seventh in the 100 free; Cameron Noyes with a fifth in the 200 free and sixth in the 100 backstroke; Jordan Nelson with a fifth in the 100 breaststroke and ninth in the 50 free; and Logan Perkins with a sixth place finish in the 100 free and eighth place in the 50 free.
The swimming meet was a tri-meet with Union High School taking third place in both the boys and girls meets.
The diving team will not compete again until Jan.7 when they go to Park City for a qualifying meet.
