Carbon’s Jamie King brings the ball in toward the basket as she battles past some Uintah Lady Ute basketball players on Tuesday night.

There are those that think scoring is the only thing anyone has to do in basketball.
But a good coach always tells his players that defense is what will win a game for them.
After last Friday’s fourth quarter loss to Central, Coach Bruce Bean told his girls they needed to tighten up their defensive play. The squad obviously paid attention, because they crushed the life out of their Tuesday night opponent, Uintah with a strong defense to take the game 44-29.
From the outset of the game, the Lady Dinos swarmed all over the Lady Utes. Carbon used a full court press throughout the game to stifle the offense of Uintah.
Carbon’s offense which had been missing the last two games was also back. While their defense held the Lady Utes to only four points in the first quarter, the Carbon girls put up 12 points.
Carbon led off the game with a three point shot and from then on it was all blue and white.
Jamie King led all the scoring with 12 points, followed closely by Meesha Rasmussen with 11.
The Lady Dino’s finished with a flurry, scoring 16 points in the final quarter to put the icing on the cake.
Rasmussen, Megan Garvin and Tabby Cummins all drained three point shots in the winning effort.
The win brought the Lady Dinos back to a 2-2 record for the early season as they take on Spanish Fork on Thursday night at home at 7:00 p.m.
Spanish Fork has a 3-1 record with wins over Payson, Ogden and Carbon’s Tuesday night opponent Uintah who they beat 45-39.
Their only loss of the season came at the hands of Wasatch, a team which also beat Carbon last week.
