Price police investigators are looking for information related to a recent string of motor vehicle burglaries in the northeastern portion of the city.
Police Chief Aleck Shilaos confirmed that there have been at least 17 reported auto burglary incidents in the neighborhood east of Cedar Hills Drive.
Shilaos said some of the vehicles were parked in garages and some vehicles were accesed by forced entry.
The person or persons committing the crime are taking mostly smaller items including stereos, satellite radios, cellular phones, currency and small valuables.
Carbon County residents who have information relating to suspicious persons in the area or the burglaries are urged to contact Tracey Allred at the police department at 636-3190.
Law enforcement experts recommend following several steps to avoid auto burglaries. Local residents should:
•Never leave keys inside motor vehicles.
•Always lock the doors, even when away from a vehicle for a short time.
•Remove valuable items when possible. If valuables cannot be removed from the vehicle, people should put the items in out-of-view place such as the trunk or a tool box.
•Remove pull-out style stereos and/or removable face plates of stereos if equipped.
•Park in lighted areas, garages or driveways near homes and apartments so vehicles can be viewed periodically.
