Castle Valley Chapter Archaeological adviser, Pam Miller, just received the distinguished Phillip F. Notarianni Service Award for her extraordinary work in developing awareness and education in providing an arena for networking among Utah museums.
She received the award at the Utah Museum Conference that took place in late October at the University Marriott Hotel in Salt Lake City.
This award is given out every year to a member of the Utah Museum Association for going above and beyond the call of duty to enhance museums in Utah.
Miller is very committed and dedicated to community service and serves on several boards in Carbon County. She participates on the Carbon County Travel Board, the county’s Restaurant Tax Board and the Castle Country Council for the Arts and Humanities. She is also vice chair of the Nine Mile Canyon Coalition and a member of the Nine Mile Canyon Advisory Board. She currently chairs the Nine Mile Canyon interpretive plan signage committee.
Her passion for the preservation of the cultural prehistoric and historic past shows in the work that she has been involved in. She was the co-director of the College of Eastern Utah Prehistoric Museum, and is the vice chair on the Board of State History.
She presently teaches full time at CEU and is working on her Ph.D.
