Over this past summer 44 members from the Castle Valley Barrel Racers participated in 22 competitions. For each race they competed for prizes and money and to take home awards at the end of the season.
Barrel racing is a very popular sport and the races held locally are open to everyone.
The first place year end winners this year in open barrel were Mcket Young 1-D, Kathy Price 2-D and Kim D’Ambrosio 3-D. These girls all took home saddles.
First place buckle winners in the youth barrels were Scoti Moon 1-D, Kelli Seevers 2-D and Alexis Hall 3-D.
Open poles 1-D winner was Kelsey Gillespie and open poles 2-D winner was Cali Moon. They both got championship breast collars.
In the Pee Wee 7 and under barrels competition the first place winner was Afton McCourt who got a belt buckle. The runner up was Morgan Jensen who received a pair of spurs for her finish.
Prizes were also awarded to the top five in every division, the open and the youth division.
