Fred Simpson teaches eighth and ninth graders at Helper Junior High School how to play African drums. Simpson is originally from San Francisco and has performed in many parts of the western U.S. He said that the classes he conducted for the last two weeks at Helper Junior are about more than just how to play drums. Simpson said that he is trying to show the students additional life skills that he hopes will make the students more rounded individuals.
