The Carbon High cross country track teams traveled to Duchesne on October 6 to compete in an invitational meet. Two of the Dinos top runners for the boys squad did not make the trip. According to coach, Stewart Foster, the other male athletes on the team really stepped up their game.
Paul Goodrich lead the pack as he pulled away from all of the competition. Goodrich finished the three mile race in first place and was done a minute and half ahead of the second place runner.
Kent Olson was the fifth place runner in the meet and broke into the 18 minute column.
Beau Morley finished in ninth place just two places short of earning a medal. The fourth Dino to cross the finish line was David Youso who has been moving up in the standing every race explained coach, Foster.
Brett Wells completed the race just ahead of Jared Richens while Jordan Burrows and James Machicaski finished close behind.
As a team, the Carbon boys finished tied for second place at the Duchesne meet.
In the girls division, Paige Morley was the top finisher for the Dinos. Morley placed fourth overall in the meet.
Katie Hobbs and Rebecca Goodrich finished close behind Morley and all three girls received medals. Hobbs completed the race in sixth place while Goodrich finished in seventh place, only two seconds behind Hobbs.
Ashley Anderson placed 12th while Katie Palmer finished in 15th place.
As a team, Carbon finished in third place.
The next meet on Carbon’s schedule will take place at North Sanpete High on October 12.
