The Carbon High cross country team finished well in two meets they competed in last week.
On Wednesday the team traveled to North Sanpete for an invitational meet. There were 14 teams in the competition.
Paul Goodrich finished third overall in the boys varsity race. He ran the course in 17 minutes and 23 seconds. Jacob Perez was the teams second runner to finish, followed by Kent Olson, Beau Morley, Sam Madrid, and Jordan Burrows.
There were some strong teams from Payson and Spanish Fork, but Goodrich out ran all of their best.
The varsity team, as a whole, finished in 6th place overall.
In the junior varsity race, Jared Richens, a 9th grader from Mont Harmon, ran a very good race with a time of 22.39. Brett Wells and Stetson Kunz also had a strong effort and a good time for the distance.
Katie Hobbs improved her time in this race and managed to stay in the middle of the pack.
On Friday, the running Dinos went to the Murray Invitational meet in the Salt Lake Valley.
The race itself was a little longer than normal cross country distances at 5K. That is about 200 meters more than the normal three mile race for a cross country meet.
Goodrich placed 15th overall out of about 300 runners.
The meet was a large one with most 1A to 5A schools competing. In the 3A division Goodrich’s running got him a fifth place.
Stetson Kunz and Brett Wells continue to run better each race, and this one was no exception.
The teams next race will be on Friday at Spanish Fork.
